127 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF AUGUST 29th. MANNY BERNARD. MH 3.-- A young man, who is a relative of Sam Bernard, in a Hebrew singing and talking specialty. He uses a large part of Joe Welch's old act by permission and makes up very much as Joe Welch did, but at present his act can only be classed as fair. 18 minutes in one. FORD SISTERS. GRR 3.-- A couple of rather pretty, young girls, members of the Ford family of dancers. They do an extremely pretty and well dressed act. Their dancing at the finish evoked strong applause. 9 minutes; can work in one if necessary. OLSON BROTHERS. NH 3.-- Banjoists. They have a good act, fully on a par with all other acts of this kind. 11 minutes in one. FRED HERBERT'S DOGS. GNH 2.-- Herbert has a splendid act and has been in Europe long enough to learn the art of dressing his stage properly. He has a little bit of novelty toward the finish of his act in the way of a loop which a small dog circles on the run. He can, of course, only go around once at a time, but it is quite an effective trick. His leaping dogs, as usual, were first class. 11 minutes, full stage. GERTHA ALLISON.-- A young lady who does a turn of songs and impersonations of different actresses. Only a fair act. 7 minutes in one. THE VENETIAN TRIO. YRR 2.-- I booked this act under the impression that it was an act something after the style of the Three Dumonds, but it developed that it was three Italians dressed in national costume, one of them playing a violin, another a guitar, and the third a mandolin. The violinist is pretty good, although his selection this afternoon was badly chosen, and two of them are very good vocalists. It was not, however, what I expected it to be, and I reduced their salary one half and allowed them to stay the rest of the week at three shows a day. In its present shape it would not do for the other houses. 11 minutes in one. THE GLEESONS. GNH 2.-- John and Bertha, but they are now assisted by Fred Houlihan, a very clever pianist. This, of course, obliges us to give them the full stage, and, while it renders their act a little more effective, it is not nearly as convenient as when they worked in one. Their dancing, of course, is about the same. They have some new ward-robe and look, as they always did, very neat indeed. Houlihan is a fine pianist and did a short selection while the Gleesons were changing, which was well received. to sum it up, the act in its present shape makes a better stage picture than formerly, otherwise there is no great improvement. 16 minutes, full stage. BRANDOW & WILEY. ER 3.-- Colored man and woman in the usual "coon" act, and they certainly waked them up in great shape. They sang one or two new songs. Miss Wiley's new song, "Oysters and Clams," made a big hit, as did Brandow's funny dancing at the finish. The audience were loath to let them go. 14 minutes in one. HENRY LEE. SRR 2.--Mr. Lee did practically the same act that he did last week, but gave his presentation of Gen. Grant on horseback. He uses a beautiful white horse for the purpose, which makes an agreeable change in the act. 26 minutes, full stage. ORPHEUS COMEDY FOUR. YRR. 2. A vocal and comedy quartette of four men. It is the same act that they did over the circuit a few months ago and went splendidly. 15 minutes in one. MR. & MRS. GARDNER CRANE. YYH 2.--In their familiar sketch, "Am I your wife?" which I think is about as artistically presented a bit of dramatic work as we play. 27 minutes, full stage.
