Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R.I., [Rhode Island] Week of September 5, 1904. With the holiday audiences everything in the show was a hit with the exception of Dixey: so it is pretty hard to get an actual line on just how our regular audiences would take the performance. I should say personally, that every act on it was very good from their competitive standpoints, and I am inclined to believe that the bill will please, in its entirety, our regular patrons. Waller & Magill. This act has appeared on the circuit before so review is unnecessary. I consider it thoroughly acceptable in a very early place on the bill. 18 min. can close in one, 3 shows. Campbell & Caulfield. Irish comedians. They have a good deal of amterial [material] that is quite new and most of it very bright from the view of a three day act. I would hardly dare chance it much later on the bill but two or three should go all right on any program. 15 min. in one, three shows. Ed & Nettie Masse. This is one of the best little comedy juggling acts that I know of with the three a day crowd. Would be all right any time before three or 8:30. 15 min. in one, three shows. Olson Brothers. Banjoists. Very pleasing little act. Their rendition of the Zampa Overture was about the best ever given by any banjoists that we have had. Pleased our audiences very much and were heartily encored. 13 min. in one, 3 shows. Thompson's Dogs. These are two clever little canines whose work has been reviewed on the circuit before and they lived up to their reputation here. 18 min. open full stage close in one, three shows. Cliff Gordon. I am under the impression that this an has added considerable new material since playing in the other houses on our circuit. I judge this in view of the great quantity of jokes which he is applying to the election and the Russian-Japan War and also that he is doing 18 min. as against 12 in the other houses. A great deal of his stuff is very timely and I believe will go strong with any audience. 18 min. in one, 2 shows. Green & Werner. Novelty singing and dancing act. This act was something of a disappointment. The people have
