Pewitt, or the mysterious face, 2 shows, 7 min. full stage -- This novelty, which is too well known now to need description by me, did not seem to create any great amount of interest, and there was not much applause at the finish, but despite those facts I think it will be much talked about during the week. The Watermelon Chorus, 2 shows, 12 min. opens in 1, closes in 3 -- This act was not well managed on the first show, and therefore did not get the chance to "make good" that it will in subsequent performances. Personally, I think, the apparent lack of appreciation of the soloist was due to the fact that they knew the songsheet chorus was to come in on the third number, so that they did not applaud her as would have been the case under other circumstances. It is the best balanced chorus we have ever had in the songsheet. Quigley Brothers, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1 -- Irish dialect talking comedians. Had a lot of new and funny material, and had the audience laughing all the time they were on the stage. Bedini and Arthur, 2 shows, 15 min. open full stage, close in 1 -- One of the best comedy juggling acts in the business. Scored the laughing hit of the show. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1 -- 1, The Magic Hair Restorer; good. 2, A Pleasant Breakfast; fair. 3, A Dyak War Dance; interesting. 4, The Two Imps; fair. 5, Across the Burning Sands, Parade of the Mystic Shriner at Atlantic City; novel and interesting. 6, The Moonlight Serenade, A French Pantomimic Subject; interesting and amusing. 7, Saved, a comedy scene; quite funny. Thomas Marshall and Alta Lorraine, 3 shows, 16 min. full stage (can close in 1, if necessary) -- This is a musical character comedy, singing and dancing sketch, in which the two people engaged are quite clever. The act is good enough to go into an early place in the 2-show section. The woman is particularly clever. Comment - The show, with a little rearrangement, will be practically up to the standard we have been keeping up of late, and there is no good reason why we should not do business.
