New York Show, Week of September 28, 1903. HR 3BERTINA. -- Contortion and dancing act. Rather a pretty, young girl, who does a neat, clean turn. Nothing whatever startling about it, but all right for a small place on the bill. 10 minutes in one. AR 3. -- NESSEN & NESSEN. -- Two young men in an act of club juggling, and I think about as clever as any of them outside of the big acts. Their work is all performed cleverly and they do about all of the intricate tricks that it is possible for two men to do. 10 minutes, full stage. AR 3. -- SAM. J. ADAMS. -- This is the performer who made a specialty of doing his act in the makeup of an overgrown "kid", and the last time he was here he went very strong indeed. He now does his act in evening dress, and I hardly think it is going to be as great a success as his old method. He got along quite nicely this afternoon, and in some ways possibley the idea may be better. He has rather a remarkable baritone voice, and after doing his impersonation the the country "kid" he sings a baritone song very cleverly. He closes his act with an impersonation of James A. Burn, of "Shore Acres," which is really artistic. 15 minutes in one. NH:-3. REED'S BULL TERRIERS. -- I think this is about as good a small dog act as we play. The animals are all exceptionally well trained and everything they do they accomplish cleverly and without apparent force. Made quite a hit this afternoon. 9 minutes, full stage. GHR. -- YOUNG AMERICAN QUINTETTE. -- Four young boys and a girl in the usual newsboy and street urchin act. I think that it is possibly the best turn of the kind of them all for they sing very nicely and do some pretty good dancing. 13 minutes, in one. NH 3 -- BARLOW & NICHOLSON -- A man and a woman in a comedy sketch, the man playing an eccentric tramp and the woman a soubrette character. They got a good place on the bill here this afternoon, and it really made quite a strong impression. The man has some very funny ideas and with an audience to work to he was successful in bring them out in very acceptable manner. For here, at least, it is a very good three-show-a-day act. 19 minutes; open full stage, close with about four minutes in one. YRR. --2. -- THE WILLIS FAMILY. -- This is the second week of this act and they made fully as good an impression as they did last week. It is a very clever turn. 22 minutes; open full stage and close in one. GGR 2. LA BELLE DAZIE. -- In an act of dancing. She is a very clever little woman and does some toe dancing that is as good as anything that we have ever had here. 9 minutes, full stage. HR. -- BERTHA STANHOPE. Vocalist. While we have had more brilliant singers and women in this line with bigger reputations, I really think that from the standpoint of the audience this girl is better than any of them. She has a remarkably sympathetic voice and it is evidently been well cultivated, and her singing of the "Last Rose of Summer" simply got the audience in great shape this afternoon. 11 minutes in one. NR 3. SMITH & BOWMAN. -- Two colored men in an act modelled after the style of Cold & Johnson. While they are very far removed fro that team they wtill have a good act. They are both good singers attempting but little comedy and are neat and clean in ther appearances. On this bill, they are down a little too late, but I have to let them stay on account of having to get something to close in one. About four or five on the bill they are vound to make good. 17 minutes, open in two and close in one. YHR. --2. GENARDO & BAILEY. -- This act is about on a par with their old one, the only difference being that they introduce a third party. The feature of the act is, of course, their dancing, and it goes very strong in this house. They made quite a strong hit. 24 minutes, full stage. 12 minutes, full stage. HR 3. -- BIOGRAPH/-- They have given us a very good selection of view this week of a miscellaneous character. 15 minutes in one. S. K. HODGDON.
