26 New York Show--Week of October 12th--2. interlocutor in the minstrel first part make ab announcement that the act is a travesty on the old time minstrels, which gives the audience to understand that they are not trying to give a straight minstrel show. The business of last week certainly indicated that they are drawing well here and we had a very big house this afternoon, and as the act is still our headliner I think a large share of the patronage can be attributed to them. 23 minutes, full stage. YRR 2--R. J. JOSE.--He went fairly well, but he is not at all the favorite in this house that he is in Boston. 10 minutes in one. YHR.-- 2. MAY EDOUIN & FRED EDWARDS.-- In the same sketch that they did here two or three years ago, introducing Miss Edouin's talented impersonations of different characters and closing with her reproduction of the laughing song that made her mother famous. She is an extremely bright woman and is very well supported by Mr. Edwards. The act made a hit here, as it always does. 30 minutes, full stage. GRR.--HAL MERRITT.__Mimic and crayon artist He does about the same tune that he always does and is the same clever, versatile performer. He was placed wrong this afternoon, but the will be remedied on the night show. 20 minutes, in one. YHR 2.--THE BROS. SILVAS--IN an act on the unsupported ladder, and which is unquestionably the best act of this kind that has ever been presented here, if not the best in the world. Two men work on the ladder at the same time and their feats of balancing are something really wonderful. They open their act by bringing in a small German fire engine with ladder attached, which is quite an attractive affair. They remove the top portion of the apparatus and place the ladder on the platform and do their work from there. They make changes of costume while standing on the ladder, play mandolins, and do juggling, and for the special feature do some head balancing while standing on the ladder. Some way or other, our people seem to be unable to appreciate the difficulty of an act of this kind, but they were much more enthusiastic this afternoon than I have ever seen them before. It is really a remarkable act. 14 minutes, full stage. HH 3--BIOGRAPH.--Very good collection of views this week. 18 minutes in one. S. K. HOGDON.
