79 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE,PHILA. NOV. 23rd. Spaulding - 12 mins.-Landscape in 3-Acrobatic tramp, whose comedy is atrocious. His hand balancing is good. All in all, a fair opener. Lizzie N. Wilson-12 mins. in one-Comedienne and vocalist. Her Dutch dialect stories did not get a smile. Her singing went better, and on this alone she got by. Just a ripple of applause, and that was all. Valesca-8 mins.-Gar. in 4-Rather pretty and neatly attired woman, on the trapeze;does a very neat "little" act, holding the attention of the audience throughout. "Female Drummer" Quartette-16 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-four real men coons; an excellent quartette. Their work was liberally applauded. It would improve the act to cut the solo work, and stick to the quartette selections. Mortimer Bassett-12 mins. in one-A neatly attired young man,who evidendly knows how to dress correctly;entertaining as a mimic and impersonator;opens with some good whistling, without the aid of the fingers. He is a good mimic, and his work was well received. Klein & Cliftoj-15 mins. in one-Man and woman, singing and dancing specialties;usual song and dance in one;a little cross fire talk, some of which went well. On the whole the act made good after 2 P.M. Milton & Dolly Nobles-38 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-In "Why Walker Reformed;" seemed to please as well as "The Blue Grass Widow" they presented here on their last visit;received many laughs. John Geiger-10 mins. in one-Trick violinist, and probably the best in the business. He really makes the fiddle talk. Went very strong. The Great Everhart-10 mins.-Gar. in 4-Hoop roller;a knock-out. The man's fame is international. The act proved the best sight act we have ever played here. Grank Opera Trio-15 mins.-Prison scene in 2-In the prison scene from "Faust." The woman has a really wonderful voice. The finale hit the audience hard, and the applause was terrific. They responded to an encore and three curtains. Chas. Kenna-20 mins.-In a monologue, "The Fair;" second time here;an excellent act that was placed just right, and received many laughs and liberal applause. Marcel's Art Studies-20 mins.-Plush Curtains & Frame-First time in Philadelphia in any house. They received an ovation, and will be the talk of the town this week. The act is too well known to need description. Yorke & Adams-18 mins. in one-In a new act that was the applause hit of the show. They were recalled again and again on their parodies, and the audience continued to call for more. Hoosier Zouaves-12 mins.-Landscape in 5-Another knock-out;the best closing act in vaudeville. It simply sewed them and riveted them in their seats to the end. Biograph-20-mins.-A good selection.
