82 Keith's Bijou, Criticism, Nov. 23rd, 1903. PETTINGILL & DE FOREST: will change to Cronin's place 16 minutes in one; 3 shows. I expected a black face act, but they came along with an eccentric white face make up which does not seem to me to be so good as the black face act, and because of make up they conflict with Fields and Ward. Is only a fair act and not quite the kind for our house except earlier in the bill. BEDINI & ARTHUR: Full stage, 15 minutes; 2 shows. These people brought along a new set evidently supplied by the Uneeda Biscuit Co., and given over entirely to the advertising of that product. They did their usual juggling and plate smashing act, which went with screams in the new house, but did not touch them nearly so well here. The act was half over before they go on to Arthur as a comedian. The act went well but not so big as it did at the other house. MONROE MACK & LAWRENCE: in "How to Get Rid of Your Mother-in-Law" Full stage, 15 minutes. The act is well known to the circuit. It went well here to-day although the audience seemed to be pretty well laughed out before they got to them. FIELDS & WARD: 2 shows; 18 minutes in one. I guess I may call this their familiar act because I think there has not been a word changed since I saw it last. They went as well as I expected them to go (in fact a little better) because of Pettingill & De Forest coming so close before them. THE FOUR SENSATIONAL BOISES: Two men, a boy and a girl in a very fine throwing act. I think the fact that I had Zeno, Carl & Zeno here a couple of weeks ago took away a great deal of the effect of this act. They work very accurately and very effectively. 2 shows; 9 minutes; full stage. BIOGRAPH: The "Fairyland" pictures shown here for the first time went very well. 21 minutes. COMMENT: The show is a good one but it lacks a drawing feature, this being very apparent in the 50¢ section of the house to-day. On the whole the show makes good with the audience. P.F. NASH.
