83 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23rd. STEREOPTICON.--Usual selection of views. 5 minutes in one. SR.--EDDIE DE VOE.--Tramp comedian and acrobat, his specialty consisting of barrel jumping, in which he is quite expert. Like all these performers, he hasn't got a great deal of comedy in his act, but his barrel jumping is really clever, and he makes an excellent opening act. 10 minutes, full stage. ER--PAUL STEVENS.--A one legged acrobat on the slack wire and also the unsupported ladder. This act is too well known to require any comment and was fully as well received as it ever was in this house. It is an excellent turn but short. 10 minutes, full stage. AR.--3 MITCHELLS.-- Colored man and woman and little girl, presenting a lively singing and dancing act. For this afternoon, at least, it went fully as strong as any colored act that we have had in the house for a year. The woman is neat looking, the little girl is a very good singer, and the man is a very lively dancer. They made a great hit. 18 minutes in one. ER.--ALF HOLT.-- Whistler and mimic. This performer is also well known to every one and does a very good act, indeed. 15 minutes in one. YHR.--JOS. MAXWELL & CO.-- I think this act went better this afternoon than I have ever known it to go in this house, and principally from the fact that they have a better selection of music, and instead of the slow, draggy songs which they have sung heretofore, they have some very lively material and pleased the audience immensely. 20 minutes, full stage. Could close with about four minutes in one if necessary. GYH.--GEO. H. WOOD.-- Black faced comedian. Wood's work this afternoon was very strong, indeed. He had almost a new act for this house, and while he still has to a great extent the intellectual idea which formerly hampered him, he has got it so cleverly intermingled with broad comedy that it is now really an advantage. I never saw him go stronger in my life than he did today. 18 minutes in one. YRR.--W. H. SLOAN & YOLANDE WALLACE.-- In a comedy sketch entitled "The Plumber," in which Mr. Sloan impersonates a Dutchman somewhat after the style of Louis Mann, and he is an exceptionally clever comedian. In fact, I have never heard our audience laugh heartier than they did at his work this afternoon. Yolande Wallace is a very pretty woman, tall and stately, and makes a good foil, and the whole act is exceptionally strong. I was very favorably impressed with it and shall do the best that I can to get it over the circuit for immediate time. 18 minutes, full stage. GHR.--MUSICAL DALE.-- This clever instrumentalist certainly stands at the head of his profession. He has a personality that is winning in the extreme, and is a musician to his finger tips, and he also has the happy faculty of selecting music that appeals to every one-- neither too classic nor too common. He made his usual strong impression. 18 minutes in one. YHR.--GIRARD & GARDNER.--A man and a woman in a comedy sketch entitled "The Soubrette and the Cop" The act seemed to go about as well this afternoon as it has always gone in the house, but I agree with the others that after this season they had better have a new act. 22 minutes, full stage. SRR.--8 VASSAR GIRLS.-- This is a very novel act. It opens in one. Four girls enter, two with clarinets, one with a flute, and the other with a bassoon, and they play some very pretty music. The exit and then return with two more, all of them with saxaphones. This is also very pretty, their music being exceptionally good, and the girls being bright and pleasing looking in every way. The make another exit and the whole eight appear playing brass instruments, cornets, trombones, etc., and for a finish they do an electrical display, four of the girls appearing as boys in knickerbockers, and four with short dresses. They have small electric lamps scattered around their wardrobe and different circuits are worked alternately, making a very pretty effect. At the
