101 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF DECEMBER 7th. NH.--BEAN & HAMILTON.--Two men in a barrel jumping specialty. These performers have been over the circuit before so that extended comment is hardly necessary. I believe it is conceded by every one that it is the best act of its kind on the stage. 10 minutes, full stage. AR -3--ALICE LEWIS.--In character changes and impersonations. This artist was formerly known as "Baby Lewis," and, while she is quite clever in her way, I doubt if she will ever be strong enough to get beyond the three-show section, at least in the specialty she is doing at present. It is all right at the opening of the bill, but that is about all. 10 minutes in one. GYH--WESSONS-WALTERS CO.-- This is a man and a woman in a comedy sketch assisted by a young boy, the latter being the hit of the act. He is quite a bright little fellow and instantly wins favor with the audience. I am a little afraid that here in New York the Society may oblige us to take him out, or at least to stop his singing, and, if they do, it will materially lessen the value of the act. As presented this afternoon it is a very acceptable contribution to the three-show section. 22 minutes, full stage. AR -3-MITCHELL & MARRON.--Two men in an act which is a travesty on the minstrel first part. They use two chairs, one of which is placed in the middle of the stage for the interlocutor, and the other on the extreme end for one of the end men, and then fill out about fifteen minutes with songs, stories and minstrel "gags". While the idea is not entirely new, they carry it out very well indeed, and as both of them are good singers it went quite strong. 19 minutes in one. GRR-3-THREE CAMPBELLS.--Two men and a woman in a musical comedy act. There isn't a great deal of comedy to the act at all, although one of the performers makes up as black face comedian, but their music is quite good especially in the brass section, and they will do all right as an opener. The woman, I believe, is a sister of Marion Manola. 21 min., open full stage, and close with about 3 min. in one. YYH-2-PRELLE'S DOGS.-- These people do about the same act that they did on their former visit to this country, the dogs being made up as human figures of the Brownie order, and also has miniature horses, ponies, elephants, etc., and is made especially effective by the ventriloquialism of the man. It is a very short turn, but very good, and made a big hit this afternoon. 8 minutes, full stage. HR-3-MABLE HUDSON.--Soprano vocalist. This woman made quite a hit with the audience, and while I hardly think she has a very extensively cultivated voice, she certainly gets away with the material that she uses all right. 12 minutes in one. YHR.--2--CALLAHAN & MACK.-- Irish comedians. Mack impersonates a young Irishman and Callahan an old man. I think it is one of the most artistic acts of its kind in vaudeville, and while it seemed to be impossible for the average Monday afternoon audiences to get thoroughly into the atmosphere of the act, it was still appreciated and I know will go very strong tonight as it always does on the evening show. 18 min. in two. LOTTA GLADSTONE.--YRR 2.--CHAracter artist. The first part of her work introduces her as a country girl with song and stories. Her dialect is correct and she delivers her lines without any striving for effect. The feature of the first part of the act being a laugh which is so hearty and spontaneous that it instantly catches every one in the audience. She also does an Irish story, and for an encore impersonates a little child and also an aged woman, all of which are first class. 20 minutes in 1. MHR-2-MARCEL'S PICTURES.-- This act is confined entirely to bas reliefs, which it is absolutely safe to say Marcel is the peer of the entire world. It is beyond question that never has there been any-
