110 The reception given Mr. and Mrs. Craig proves conclusively that no mistake was made in booking them for this house, at least. While the scene from Shakespeare may have been better done by more experienced actors, still it was so handsomely presented and is such a contrast to the surrounding variety acts that it seems to me to be well worth doing elsewhere. Julian Rose, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--this man had about the hardest place in the bill in which to "make good", as droves of people left after the Craig act was finished. As it was, he decidedly pleased those who remained. He is about the only Hebrew impersonator who can play this house. Sander Trio, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--One of the prettiest "sight acts" we get. Went strong in the closing place in the show. John Geiger, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Trick violinist, who made quite a hit with those who heard him. Stereopticon, 2 shows, 13 min. in 1--Usual interesting selections of home and foreign views. Comment:- The show, as a whole, did not seem to dovetail together as it should, but this may be because the proper combination had not been secured in the first arrangement. Another will be tried this evening. The individual acts are all present, especially in the 2-show section, and I think it will be set right when arranged. The 3-show section lacks "snap", and as a consequence the show starts off somewhat slow. This is only noticeable, however, in the early afternoon show, for, even if another act were added, of a livelier nature, it would not get into the evening show at all. The attendance today was very much larger than that of last Monday, due to the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Craig. this was not only so in the balconies, where one would naturally look for the Castle Square audience, but was likewise manifest in the 75¢ section of the house, where the heartiest applause was given.
