118 Prelle's Dogs, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage--Scored the biggest hit of any act provided for the entertainment of children that we have had for a long time, going much stronger than I have ever seen it in this house. Just what we want for this week. A. O. Duncan, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--Never went better than today. He is more of a comedian than ventriloquist, and his laugh-provoking material is mostly new and locally pointed. He had an enthusiastic recall at the close of his act. Fred Ward and John Curran, 2 shows, 20 min. open full stage close in 1--Practically the same old act of burlesque comedy and singing that they have been giving for several seasons. It was an awful stiff place in the bill, but went well, notwithstanding, and is probably the best act we have to set the pictures by. Marcel's bas reliefs, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage--These licing [living?] art studies are simply beyond criticism, and miles ahead of anything of the kind ever seen in Boston. It may be that people would tire of seeing the one style, as for instance, the bas reliefs, and that a longer run than a fortnight would not be possible, but of that we will have to judge later. At present I am somewhat inclined to think it would be possible to carry them along for six weeks or two months. Agnes Pringle, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1--Western violinist, who has been for a couple of seasons in lyceum work, and is now at the head of a company, but had this week open. We put her on at a low figure to try her out, and she "made good", in a surprising fashion, for she certainly knows how to fiddle. She will be all right for the circuit in the Spring. Bim Bomm Brr, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage--Novelty musical act by three persons, in costume. They just escape being very good and would come under that classification if in the 3-show-section. Leighton and Leighton, 3 shows, 18 min. in 1--Singers and dancers, excelling particularly in the latter respect. Went well. Comments:- The show all through is a good one. If there is anything weak in it at all, it is in the fact that we are obliged to run Ward and Curran so low on the bill in order to make Marcel's set. Otherwise the bill is a satisfactory one, as was testified to by many weekly patrons on leaving the theatre. Christmas buying should not prevent good business.
