124 124 Criticism, Keith's Bijou, Phila., Dec. 28th, 1903. STEREOPTICON: Set of slides failed to turn up; had to borrow a set from a local optician; secured a pretty good set, consequently the show was not much hurt. LE BAR: In one: 3 shows. Male contortionist. An awkward gent whose work was a little out of the ordinary contortion line. Not much interest in the act. HOFFMAN & PIERCE: Two young ladies who stayed long enough to read the schedule and then bade us farewell. Closed themselves because they did not like their place on the bill. KELLY & ADAMS: C.D.F., close 1; 17 minutes; 3 shows. Man and woman, man made up as Irishman; woman straight. An act that gets on the circuit occasionally, while a little bit oldtimey it psses along in the three show section xxxx nicely. Not much comedy in the act, but their songs help them to get away with seventeen minutes very nicely. MOONEY & HOLBEIN: C.D.F., close 1; 17 minutes; 3 shows. Man and woman, man an eccentric legmania and acrobatic dancer, the woman sings and xxx plays two or three musical instruments; the man's dancing carries the act along very well, and they get along nicely in their place on the bill. WESSON WALTERS & CO: C.D.F. 23 minutes; 3 shows. Man, woman and boy in "Jinks, Insurance Man" an act familiar to the circuit. The little boy adds considerable to the value of the act, which is run off rapidly and caught their fancy here. Very valuable three show act. THREE MITCHELLS: Drapery one; 20 minutes; 3 shows. Colored man, woman, and little girl; played the circuit, consequently known; the act went very strong here. The act has been moved down the bill for the night show. QUAKER CITY QUARTETTE: SPECIAL SET: 22 minutes; 2 shows. Did their barber shop act; the singing and comedy as good as ever, and they made as big a hit as they ever made in the house. CHAS. BRADSHAW & CO: Two men and two women; C.D.F. 27 minutes; 2 shows. Did a sketch "Fix in a Fix." The sketch is too long and too talky and dragged very considerably; this audience did not seem to care much for it, and they barely got their curtain call; there is a new girl in the act, a little bit better than the one with which he played the other houses. ELSIE BERNARD: Monologue and songs: In one; 13 minutes; 2 shows. An artistic little act but was badly placed; was not lively enough to pick the audience up after Bradshaw. Will be give Three Mitchell's place tonight and I think she will go better. JULES & ELLA GARRISON: C. D. F., changing to palace full stage; 18 minutes; 2 shows. Man and woman in their familiar travesty act. Went very well. CAPLIN & OTTO: Dutch comedians; in one; 15 minutes; 2 shows. Little disappointed in this act after the reports I had from the other houses, the first part of the act especially being cheap and somewhat draggy; they
