126 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Dec. 28, 1903 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min. in 1--Usual interesting collection of views. Leon and Adeline, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Neatest and most pleasing opening act we have had for a long time. They did not do anything startling in their juggling, but presented their act in such a finished manner that it won applause. Klein and Clifton, 3 shows, 16 min. in 1--Singing and dancing act by a man and woman. Went very well. The hit of the act was scored by a small dog, the animal being introduced at the finish. Yackley and Bunnell, 3 shows, 15 min. open in 3, close in 1--Musical comedians and one working straight and the other in blackface eccentric makeup. Their instrumental work would scarcely land them in the Symphony, but from a 2-per-day point of view, the act can be classed as good. George Lavender and Ada Tomson, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage-In my opinion this is a first class sample of good material wasted, as neither the man nor the woman has the slightest conception of the part they are playing, and as a consequence failed to score their points. The dialogue was bright and won some laughs, but in the hands of clever "legitimate" people could be made a big laughing hit. This act, for the reasons stated, should be in the 3-show-section. Mabel Hudson, 2 shows, 8 min. in 1--Vocalist, rendering one highclass song and two commonplace ballads. She makes a good stage appearance, has a fair voice but did not go very strong. She should be in the 3-show section, as her shortcomings I think are the results of dissipation. Pantzer Trio, 2 shows, 15 min. full stage--One of the best "sight" acts that plays this house, being made up of two handsome and shapely girls, who perform some really wonderful stunts in a most graceful manner, and Carl Pantzer, who is an eccentric grotesque comedian of ability. The mother is allowed to play on the piano at the opening, but is excess baggage. John and Bertha Gleason, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1--Best dancing act of the kind in the business. I agree with Mr. Hodgdon that the girl's facial expression is a drawback. If she would smile occasionally it would be a decided improvement. Went strong, as usual. we have had throughout the year. The rearrangement tonight will be: Carl Sanderson, Stereopticon, Leon and Adeline, Klein and Clifton, Yackley and Bunnell, Lavender and Tomson, Mabel Hudson, Pantzer trio, Frank Bush, Shean and Warren, Fisher and Carroll, Marcel's Pictures and Biograph.
