128 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF DECEMBER 28th. GRR 3--ADAIR & DAHN.--A man and a woman in a tight wire act, and I think it is one of the best acts for an opener that we have ever seen in this house. They do some very excellent work, which is really exceptionally clever. The act is an ornament to any bill. 12 minutes, full stage. NH 3--MURPHY & ANDREWS.-- This is Paddy Murphy and Ella Andrews. They do a singing and talking act which has been seen several times on the circuit and which is familiar to every one. In an early part of the bill it is an excellent act. There is not a great deal of comedy to it, but both of the performers work with considerable vim and animation and the act finishes quite strong. 17 minutes in one. GHR 3--THE BURTO-LOWANDO CIRCUS.-- Two men, a woman, two ponies, and a couple of dogs in an act which is presented inside of a ring after the circus fashion. They have played the circuit several times and criticism is unnecessary beyond saying that it is one of the best acts for children that we play and not at all unacceptable to grown people. 14 minutes, full stage. NH 3- MARTIN BROS.--This act was very unfortunate this afternoon, one of the performers meeting with an accident at rehearsal and injuring himself so severely that it was impossible for him to appear and he will doubtless not be able to go to work for a couple of days. They do a xylophone act, which from all I can hear is an exceptionally good one as they were with Barnum's Show last season and a great many people saw them at the Madison Square Garden. In order to fill out the time, one of the brothers went on and worked alone, and while he gave every evidence of being a clever artist in his line he was naturally hampered by the absence of his partner. There is no question, however, but that they have a fine act. 10 minutes in one. GYH -3 KENNEDY & ROONEY. This is Mattie Rooney of the original Rooney family and her husband, Clayton Kennedy. They do an eccentric singing, dancing, and piano playing act that is really a very good turn. There is no question but that Mattie Rooney, outside from Pat, is the best member of the Rooney family so far as stage ability is concerned, and her husband has developed into quite a clever eccentric comedian. He is also a very good piano player, and between the two of them they present an act that could hardly fail to give satisfaction to any audience. 15 minutes, open full stage and close in one with about 3 minutes. AR 3--RUTH NELTA.--This is a young woman of rather a pleasing appearance who does a turn of coon songs. For various reasons I was obliged to give her a stiff place on the bill this afternoon, but she got through all right, and I think along about number 2 or 3 on the programme she will make good any where. At all events, she is a pretty fair singer, dresses neatly, and will give no offense. 9 min. in 1. SRR2 --ROUSBY'S ELECTRICAL NOVELTY.--The act went very smooth indeed this afternoon and held the attention of the audience closely from start to finish. It is a turn that does not call for any great amount of applause, but as a spectacular novelty it is really grand and it is doubtful if any prettier picture has ever been seen on the vaudeville stage. 12 minutes, full stage. GRR -2---DOROTHY NEVILLE.--Miss Neville is a fine looking woman, although a little to stout to be specially attractive personally. She has a good idea of comedy, however, and succeeds in carrying the audience with her throughout the entire act. We had quite a dull crowd this afternoon, but in spite of that fact she went very well indeed, and I think she will make a much stronger impression on the night audience. 14 minutes in one.
