133 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE,PHILA. JAN. [?] '04 Kenny & James-15 mins.-C.D.F. in 2-1/2-close in one-Man and woman, in an alleged comedy sketch. They do not seem to improve, and are far removed from being good. Of little value, even as an opener. Adair & Dahn-12 mins.-Gar. in 3-Man and woman, in a good wire act;make a neat appearance, and present a very pretty sight act;especially good in the three-a-day class. Ruth Nolton-11 mins. in one-Colored soloist;almost white;makes an excellent appearance, and seems to please with her selections;very good three-a-day act. Corbley & Burke-15 mins. in one-Two men, in a real old Irish knockdown and drag out song and dance act. If on early enough they do no harm, but our audience are not particularly fond of this rough stuff. They made good with some and can be classed as good for three-a-day. Rae & Brosche-18 mins.-St in one-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Men and women in a sketch entitled "A Woman of Few Words." The only thing of merit in the act is the fast talking of the woman. Walter Daniels-15 mins. in one-Impersonator;a good act, and doubly valuable because he works in one if necessary. The Fadettes-30 mins.-Gar. in 5-Second week;still draw money and give the bill a foundation. Raymond Teal-15 mins. in one.Blackface monologue;delivered some good material and made good at 3.18.sang some that passed inspection; good act. Kennedy & Rooney-10 mins.-Pal. in 4-Man and woman, in a comedy sketch. Kennedy is a good comedian and received many laughs. The act went well, the audience apparently throroughly enjoying it. Good act. Murphy & Nichole did not arrive. Mlle. Strakosch-12 mins. in one-Soloist. The audience treated her fairly listening to her offerings, and responding with sufficient applause;not a great hit, but got by all right. Milly Capell did not arrive. Fisher & Carroll-15 mins. in one-Two men, crossfire talk. The act, with the improved make-up of the straight man,and the new material they offer, has improved 50 5 sinc last here;went very strong. Very good act. Watson,Hutcings % Edwards-23 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Sketch, entitled "A Vaudeville Exchange." Altogether too much money for the act. The Dutch dialect is very bad and there is little merit in the whole dialogue. The close of the act is strong, but it only lasts 30 seconds. A good act for $200. Biograph-20 mins. in one-Alice in Wonderland. Good. Comments:-There are two weak acts in the three-a-day section. We will trade Corbley & Burke for anything the Bijou will give us. Murphy & Nichols and Milly Capell were held up by the storm and did not get here at all. We put on John Healy, who happened to be in town. We may get the show in shape by to-night. H. A. DANIELS.
