145 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of Jan. 11, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg) The show is eminently satisfactory, containing a good amount of strong comedy, which is always popular with this audience. I look for one of the big weeks of the season. [M?]arion & Dean. Little singing and dancing act and some talking. A rather tame affair, just about good enough to open the show. 13 min. in 2, close in one, 3 shows. [L?]izzie Wilson. Dutch character singer. She seemed to be laboring under a very bad cold today and no doubt was handicapped in that way although I don't see much possibility in the act any way. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. Bijou Circus. This act is too well known to require comments. It is always acceptable and well liked and pleasing to the children. 20 min. full stage, 3 shows. Walter Daniels. Impersonator. this man gives us an act very much like that of Charles Leonard Fletcher, but there is probably not as much comedy in it as in the fletcher act but on the whole I like this better. He has a very nice personality and his impersonations are most artistic and more so than those of Fletchers. I consider him a valuable addition to the list of acts in one and he is strong enough to occupy a more important position on the bill should it be necessary to place him there. 17 min. in one, 3 shows. La Troupe Fantastique. The same report which I gave a couple of weeks ago in Pawtucket will still hold good on this act. 14 min. full stage, 2 shows. Lew Hawkins. This man seems to improve about every time that we get him and I consider him among the best of our monologuists. On this, as well as his previous engagements he made an unqualified success. 15 min. in one, 2 shows. W. H. Murphy & Blanche Nichols. In their well known act "The Bifurcated Girl" which has been seen on the circuit many times and went today just as strongly as it ever did before. 25 min. in 3, 2 shows. Mlle. Harriet Avery STRAKOSCH. Vocalist. Not a strong act in any sense but manages to get through all right and is fairly pleasing. 10 min. in one, 2 shows. Three Keatons. Unquestionably this was the laughing hit of the bill. This act requires no discussion on my part, only necessary to say that it is strong enough, in my opinion, to hold up any portion of the program. Although scheduled for 23 min. on account of their laughs to day it ran 29. About 5 min. in one, 2 shows. John Craig & Co. In the sketch entitled "The Doctor." Mr Craig is undoubtedly the best of the dramatic actors in the Vaudeville field. The play contains many laughs but it not at all over the heads of the audience. Went very strongly today. On Friday he is going to give me a special number. His wing scene from Catherine & Petrucio, which I am going to work up as a special feature for that night. 22 min. in 3, 2 shows. MAyme Remington & Pickannies. In their famous act which held its own in a very difficult position on the bill. 13 min. in one, 2 shows. Watson, Hutchins, & Co. There is no great amount of merit in this act but they manage to keep the audience screaming for the entire time they are on the stage and it is in my mind the strongest act to close a bill in vaudeville with. 23 m. in 3, 2 shows. one of the best pictures we have ever had.
