147 Keith's Bijou, Criticism, Jan. 11th., 1904. LEONA THURBER AND HER PICKANINNIES; Drapery in one. 13 minutes. Woman of very pleasing appearance with considerable vocal ability which gained a good bit of applause. The 2 Pickaninnies are hardly up to the standard set by Pickaninnies along this line of work and for this reason she did not close as strongly as her first appearance indicated she would. 2 shows. WILL H. SLOANE & YOLANDE WALLACE: "The Plumber" C. D. F. 19 minutes. Sloane received, good reception and by his good work in the sketch enables him to gain a fair amount of applause. Miss Wallace good work in the dialogue made it interesting and clever. The act was surely a go and what could surely be called strong, receiving a good amount of applause and apparently pleasing the audience. 2 shows. LOUISE HENRY: Drapery in one. 10 minutes. Her opening solo and the talk following as the Sal Skinner girl was very well received, gaining her considerable applause and enabling her to close with her very satisfactory manner in this difficult position; position in which we were obliged to place her by the failure of her trunks to arrive. 3 shows. STELLING & REVELL: Would in 4. 10 minutes. 2 men in comedy make up, doing the usual line of work done by Bar Artists. Little of their work is new and original and little of the talk is new. They are hardly up to the standard set by such men in the 2 a-day section but will do for us to close the show and at close they received good applause. 2 shows. BIOGRAPH. Collection of views very interesting but hardly up to the same of our recent shows. 20 minutes. COMMENT. Show well up to the standard set by the recent and some of the best shows we have brought out since returning to vaudeville. The best and strongest acts being those of Sloane & Wallace and Hume, Ross & Lewis and the show throughout from beginning to end was very satisfactory and very satisfactorily received. Judging by weeks lately past we should easily be able to hold our own in business from the viewpoint of receipts, despite the restrictions placed upon us by the investigating committee touring the City at the present time. E. P. Lyons.
