152 Sisters Gousch, 2 shows, 7 min. full stage--Female acrobats, and easily the best ever seen in this house. Went big. Reports from other houses coincided in. James F. Macdonald, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--Singing and talking comedian, possessing a splendid baritone voice, which experience in opera has taught him to use to the best advantage. His songs were all above the average merit, and his stories capital and well told. He went quite strong with the audience, who laughed at his yarns and applauded his songs. The Macwoods, 2 shows, 15 min. full stage--Pantomimic gymnasts, with special stage setting, representing an artist's studio. One of the men makes up as a maid servant and the other as an artist. Their work is not extraordinary, but considerable of a novelty, and for that reason went better than would otherwise have been the case in the place in the bill. Their acrobatic stunts were discounted by those of the Sisters Gousch, with whom they will be exchanged in the evening show. Lew Hawkins, 2 shows, 18 min. in 1--Blackface comedian, with customary line of parodies and humorous stories, some old and some new. Did not go so strong as he has done in the past, but the audience was a dead one, and he will no doubt be all right during the balance of the week. Watson, Hutchings and Edwards, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage- Presenting their nonsensical sketch "The Vaudeville Exchange", which I am grieved to saw, went better than anything that had preceded it in the show. It is too well known to need any description from me. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Interesting and amusing list of motion pictures, equal to any we have had of late. Shannon and Brown, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--German talking comedians, who had a most difficult place in which to make good. They went fairly well, but I never expect to see them in the 2-show section. Comment:- The show is well balanced, but has more of interest than comedy all the way through, and if any criticism were made it would be over the lack of laugh provoking material. This is not so pronounced, however, as it seemed to be this afternoon, since the audience was one of those that we get every two months or so, when it seems impossible to arouse. From the audience viewpoint, I do not look for the show to make such a hit as that of last week--and I know it is not as good a bill.
