154 Keith's Bijou Criticism. January 18th. 1904. #2. ted to sing the solos she attempts. For the other member "Hall" nothing need be said. He is bad and failed to reach the mark set for him. While the sketch of itself gained considerable number of laughs it cannot be said to have gone strongly and would not be termed successful. 2 shows. RAE & BROSCHE. Opening in one to C.D.F. and closing in one. 16 minutes. Man with a slight German dialect, woman working straight. The clever opening talk of the man placed him in favor and gained some applause which lasted throughout to the close of the sketch. 2 shows. EVERHART. Wood in 4. 8 minutes. Everhart gained the first reception of the day and by his rapid and clever work and the assistance of two able property men gained applause throughout all of his show. His work with the hoops was very good and takes all others performing along this line to appear the most amateurish of amateurs. 2 shows. VERA KING. Drapery in one. 10 minutes. Miss King in this position failed to draw satisfactory applause from her auditors and did not seem to have the power to interest them satisfactorily. Her line of talk got some laughs and earned her a fair amount of applause but it is this position in the bill which is too much for her. 2 shows. ROBERTS, HAYES & ROBERTS. C. D. F. 19 minutes. close in one. 5 minutes. The same sketch they have played over the Circuit and which does not possess any real value but the introduction of some clever specialty work by each of the company enabled them to close strongly to laughter and applause. 2 shows. RAMZA & ARNO. Garden in 4. 10 minutes. Comedy acrobat On3 man with donkey make-up. The act itself is gotten up with mechanical devices of clever and ingenuous construction which enable them to gain considerable laughter and applause throughout the act and at its close. 2 shows. BIOGRAPH. An uninteresting collection of views with the exception of one "The Escaped Lunatic" which really gained more laughter than any act on the bill to-day. 20 minutes. COMMENT. Looking at the show as a whole it must be distinctly said that it is not in the same place with the one put on by us last week. In order to remedy and improve it the bill will be considerable changed for to-nights performance and one of the bag punching acts "Desmond" went to the new house in exchange for Mitchell the ventriloquist. The proper adjustment of the show will probably enable us to play business as satisfactory as the week proceeding. MITCHELL. Ventriloquist. Garden 4. 17 minutes. A man who displays great ventriloqual ability and his line of talk enables him to make his work interesting. While we secured him only in time for our supper show his presentation gained him applause from the few auditors here at that time. His work will fill in nicely by closing in one. He has an act which may be valuable to us this week. E.P. LYONS. Whole show improved by readjustment & went better throughout P.F.N.
