158 TEMPLE THEATER, DETROIT, MICHIGAN. Week. Jan. 18, 1904. GEORGE F. AUSTIN: Good wire walking act. This is one of the best opening acts we play, and it is one of the best acts of the kind in vaudeville. 14 mins. F. S. ORIGINAL RIO BROTHERS: Owing to the illness of one of the trio but two appeared for the opening performance. This act is not a first class act. 11 mins. F. S. GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY: Kinetograph Picture series. The series was the talk of the town and more than made good. 16 mins. MR. & MRS JAMES BARRY: In "A Skin Game". Was received here very well, in fact was one of the hits of the bill. 17 mins. F. S. 3 in one. HARRY GILFOIL: Debut in vaudeville. He appeared in the character of "Baron Sands", a man 80 years old, an old rounder, giddy, quaint and altogether enjoyable. He also imitates the bark, the growl, the cry, and the strange sounds he heard generally at Barnum's circus. His character acting was great and his imitations were wonderful. He made good every minutes he held the stage. 14 mins. F. S. 3 in one. WENONA & FRANK: Billed as the "Champion Rifle Shots of the World" Their marksmanship is very good and they have a very good act of its kind. 19 mins. F. S. JAMES THORNTON: Monologue. Was in good fettle and went very well. His monologue ran 30 minutes which was too long, but still he did not tire the audience. All in one. COLE & JOHNSON: Repeated their former hit here. This team is without question the greatest colored singing and dancing team in this country. 17 mins. F. S. HOOSIER ZOUAVES: 17 in number who execute wonderful marches and lightning drills, concluding with a wall scaling act. It is a great closing act and it holds the crowd to the very last. 11 mins. F. S.
