162 Report on show, Keith's theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of Jan. 25, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg) The show is exceptionally good and valuable from the fact that there are so many new features in it. There is not a bad number on the bill from beginning to end and many of them contain exceptionable merit. With anything like decent weather we should have a big week's business. Lawson & Namon. Lady bag-puncher and man, tramp bicyclist. The comedy of this act is rather tame but the woman is very attractive and is quite skillful as a bag-puncher and the man does some pretty good trick bicycle riding. Good opening three a day act. 14 min. full stage, 3 shows. Holdsworths. Singing dancing and banjo playing. This is a very clever little act the feature of which is the man's dancing and playing the banjo at the same time. Clever three a day act. Valuable because it is entirely in one, and could stand a little lower on the bill. 12 min. in one, 3 shows. Antrim & Peters. Little sketch made to introduce the man's imitations of animals and various well known sounds. The imitations are not particularly good but they are introduced in such a way as to make them attractive. 14 min. open in three, close in one, 3 shows. Wood & Ray. Travesty sketch in which the man does some very clever work as a Burlesque Tragedian. He is very unctious in his manner and got away with the stuff all right. The woman is acceptable. 15 min. open in three, close in one, 3 shows. La Veen & Cross. This is an exceptionably clever hand balancing act, the work being presented in an easy graceful manner and in spite of the fact that it is a three a day act must be ranked as very good, from any standpoint. 11 min. open in two, close in one, 3 shows. Mitchell. Ventriloquist. It is hardly fair to judge from the man's performance this afternoon as he got on very late, and went on in a hurry and probably didn't do himself justice. It seems however to be the usual act of a ventriloquist, and is all right if not put on too late on the show. 12 min. open in three, close in one. 3 shows. Fleury Trio. This act has been described before and I will say that I consider it among the best acts of its kind we ever had. 9 min. full stage, 2 shows. World's Trio. Character singers, little monologue, and song and dance finish. The act is well known so does not need description at this time. It went very well this afternoon. 17 min. open and close in one, 2 shows. Sisters Gousch. This was one of the big hits of the show and will probably be the most talked about act on the bill and draw us the most money. that they are clever I understood in advance but was much surprised and agreeably so at their work this afternoon. 8 min. full stage 2 shows. Louise Henry. The "Sal Skinner Girl". She does a very clever act after the order of "Sis Hopkins" and went first rate although not strong enough really for the place I am giving her on the bill. I make the sacrifice however for the benefit of the show in its entirety which balances up better avoids waits by placing her here. 10 min. in one, 3 shows.
