173 NEW YORK SHOW--WEEK OF FEBRUARY 1--2. HRR 2 ETHEL LEVY.-- In a turn of character songs. She did a very strong act, opening with a "coon" song which she did about as well as any woman that I have ever seen on our stage. She then goes to her husband's ("Mr. Morgan") song which she sings while seated in a chair, and with which she makes a great big hit. Her last song is of the character order, and that was also well received. She does a mighty clever act. 17 minutes in one. YNH 2 CHAS. DICKSON & CO.-- IN "A Pressing Matter." This turn went very strong; in fact, much stronger than it did the last time it was here, principally because Mr. Dickson has a young woman who supports him much better. As presented this afternoon, the act abounds in laughable situations and got the fancy of the audience from the first. 28 minutes, full stage. YHR 2 JAMES THORNTON. --Put in to take the place of Haines & Vidocq who were dissatisfied with the advertising and their position on the bill and closed. Thornton is in prime condition and gave us an act this afternoon that elicited applause and laughter from the start to the finish. There is absolutely no question but that he is the best man in this line of work in the country when he is in the form to deliver it, and he was certainly in that condition this afternoon. 21 minutes, in one. GHR 2 ST. ONGE BROS.-- Comedy bicyclists, one man doing comedy and the other man making up straight. It is about the same sort of an act that they did the last time and pleases immensely. 13 minutes, full stage. HR--3--BIOGRAPH.--A very good selection of views this week. 20 minutes in one. S. K. HODGDON.
