180 CRITICISM. KEITH'S BIJOU. February 8th., 1904. STEREOPTICON. Usual collection of slides. 10 minutes. HARRY BATCHELOR/ Musician. C. D. F. 11 minutes. A local celebrity picked up here, who plays on a variety of musical instruments and while his selection of tunes is somewhat pleasing he has no idea of time and little of harmony. He will do for us in this position and probably not better in any place. 3 shows. WHALEN & LANG. Street in one. 14 minutes. German comedians presenting an old and tacky lot of stuff gathered from other and better acts, principally Carlin & Otto, Clifford & Burke and various others, in fact they may be called the Chiefs of Appropriation and only got by fair in this place on the bill. 3 shows. JAMES R. ADAMS. Garden in 2 12 minutes. Closing in one 6 minutes. In Adams familiar stilt specialty, followed by his dressing stunts, no part of the whole act gaining any great amount of applause and enabling him to close only fairly. 3 shows. LEON & ADELINE. Palace in 4 13 minutes. Their familiar juggling act which has not deteriorated in the past couple of years and probably has improved some by introducing a little comedy. Gained slight applause throughout their act and fair applause only at the close. 3 shows. ADA ARNOLDSON. Drapery in one. 9 minutes. Miss Arnoldson while not possessed of a remarkable voice pleased her audience satisfactorily and drew from them the best of applause so far to-day, gaining it after each of her songs and closing to very good applause. 3 shows. LYNCH & JEWELL. 18 minutes. First 9 minutes in one, then to C. D. F. The introduction of the Biograph drop of pictures for Lynch's first couple of songs which he sings in "Rube" make-up proved a good starter, the peculiarity of the songs and the comicality of the pictures soon had his audience in a good humor and he won good applause. In the C.D.F. the lady is introduced and plays the piano for some clever dancing of Lynch's. The whole act was very satisfactory to-day and earned them good applause throughout. They can close in one. 2 shows. LAVEEN & CROSS. C. D. F. 14 minutes. A pair of good looking, neatly dressed young fellows whose work is executed in a manner not indicative of great effort and so clever that they were applauded throughout the whole act the muscular posing of one of the team is appreciated and applauded better than any muscular posing that has been shown here in a long time. Most satisfactory act at this time which could stand a much better position. 3 shows. DILLON BROTHERS. Street in one. 20 minutes. The first and best reception of the day. In their almost inimitable manner. The pair presented a budget of new parodies which was productive of much laughter and gained applause from the beginning to the end of the act. Really the hit of the show this afternoon. 2 shows. Three Keatons. Garden in 4. Cottage on side, 27 minutes, 9 minutes in one. Another reception and the act was greeted with much laughter and considerable applause throughout. The imitations of Buster while they all will be better appreciated during [???] and the last half of the bill will easily compare with any yet shown here. As to business I fully believe that the satisfactory attendance of the past few weeks will be duplicated and perhaps surpassed during the present week. E. P. LYONS.
