200 WORLD'S TRIO. 19 minutes. 9 minutes in one at opening, then to C. D. F. with one minute in one at close. As this is a familiar act over the Circuit it would be needless to criticize it. The two women in their touch make-up and in their very pretty dressing afterwards, sing well, dance well and easily do their share of the work. The male member however, was unable to arouse interest by his monologue or bad singing. Their rapid singing and dancing at the close carried them off to good applause, but not as good as if the two women worked alone or a new and good man had replaced the present male member. 2 shows. PETCHING BROTHERS. Garden in 4 Cottage on side. 22 minutes. Close with 5 minutes in one. They set the stage prettily with flower pots and vines all containing bells. One man straight, the other in German makeup, who gets off some good comedy which is more valuable by the quiet way in which he lands it. They certainly played well to-day on all of their instruments, earned several recalls and closed with very strong applause. 2 shows. HARRY LE CLAIR. C. D. F. 23 minutes 6 minutes in one. In his familiar impersonations, at which he does not seem to have lost any of his old time ability. Received the first reception of the day and closing in one, uses his own drop, representing the cave scene from Faust, aroused laughter and earned applause throughout. Closed very well. 2 shows. BELLE HATHAWAY. Palace in 4. 18 minutes. Rather a novel and pleasing animal act, part of the amusement being aroused by a number of young monkeys she presents. The act is a laugh maker throughout and closed to very good applause. Comparing it with other animal acts shown here lately it shows to be one of the best. 2 shows. BEN WELCH. Street in one. 15 minutes. Hebrew character comedian, brother of the old time favorite Joe Welch, whose style, gestures and line of talk he has copied. Of course he is not in Joe's class just now, but plenty of his talk is winning him considerable laughter and closed him to tremendous applause. 2 shows. MACKWOODS. Own set in 3 6 minutes. Foreign act, familiar as it has only recently played the circuit. Their work is clever and rapid, creates a good impression and enabled them to close to good applause. 2 shows. BIOGRAPH. Kit Carson pictures, all being in colors and while it is not a great set, it interested the audience to-day and aroused good applause at the close. 26 minutes. COMMENT. The good attendance, the natural result of the holiday, may have caused some of the acts to be appreciated better than they would otherwise have been. However, the show is certainly a good one, and indeed, looking over a list of the best shows we have had in the past few months, this one will rank amongst the foremost and might be said to be the best of all we have had. It is a variety show, possessing plenty of variety acts, not burdening any one line of work. To me the business prospects for the week look good. E.. P.. LYONS..
