204 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., week of Feb. 29th, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg) The show is rather a disappointment to me; it seems to lack snap and go and two or three of the acts that I thought were going to amount to something fell down. Probably on the re-construction of the bill it will go better. Rotation given below is the reconstructed form. Zarnes. Ring and trapeze. This is a nice clean little act which while it amounts to very little is all right to open the bill and does no harm at all and may be rated as fair from a three a day standpoint. 11 min. full stage, 3 shows. Cunningham & Lord. Two young people, man and woman who make a very attractive appearance and do a bright neat singing and dancing act the feature of course is the dancing. They should be rated from a three a day standpoint as quite good. 11 min. in one. Gottlobs. In a rural sketch with a plot which is rather talky and dreary. They drag out about 24 min. with about one half dozen laughs. It is purely a time killer and that is the only value the act is, at least for this house. 24 min. in three, 3 shows. Bijou Russell. This girl has quite a clever act and she went very decently with the audience. Some of her methods are a little bit coarse however, and I thought it well to exchange places with her and Sophie Burnham, bringing Miss Burnham up to this point on the bill. 11 min. in one, 3 shows. Martinetti & Grossi. Novelty act, the novelty of which is producing music from articles of furniture, bicycles, etc. While the music does not amount to much the surprise created to the audience makes the act go well and for that reason should be rated as good. 14 min. open in 3, close in one, 2 shows. Gardner & Vincent. These people do quite an attractive sketch introducing a lot of new business. Gardner is very good but Miss Vincent is decidedly stiff in her work and seems to do everything by rote. In an earlier spot on the bill, say not later than 8:30 the act would go well. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. Sophie Burnham. Soprano vocalist. She always goes well with our audiences considering that she does 3 shows a day she must be rated as very good. 12 min. in one. Helene Gerard. There is no doubt there was great disappointment felt by the audience in this act. They didn't seem to like her early as well as Milly Capell and she was really a great fall down to the show. Horse acts have never been in great demand with Providences audiences and I think that in the future it would be well to cut them out unless they have more attractiveness than those we have played, at least I should not care to repeat Miss Gardner again. 15 min. full stage, 2 shows. C. W. Littlefield. In his well known imitations. He went lame in a later spot in the bill and I was obliged to bring him up to this position. 16 min. in one, 2 shows. Should be doing three shows.
