205 Foy and Clark, 2 shows, 18 min. full stage--First time here in their new sketch "The Old Curiosity Shop", which can be considered a novelty and a change from the act they had been giving us for several seasons. It is not such a good sketch as the former one. Arthur Adamini and Taylor, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Excellent singing and musical turn, the more so as the woman is a brilliant vocalist. As all such turns do here, went strong, encores after every selection. Will H. Cressy and Blanche Dayne, 2 shows, 26 min. full stage--In their latest rural comedy sketch, "The New Station", which went better than the last time it was done here. It seems to have improved considerably. The most pronounced laughs and applause went to one of our stage hands, John Geddis, who came in with the telegram Almost everybody appeared to recognize him and he had as good a dialect as Cressy himself. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Good list of pictures, the variety being something different from those we have been receiving of late, which had decided advantages. Comment:- The show was not arranged to the best advantage this afternoon and therefore did not go as well as it will during the balance of the week. There is too much dancing and singing in the bill, though I have eliminated some of it by changing Lynch's act, which injected some comedy where it was most needed and gives a pleasing balance. Pauline Hall and Billy Carter will undoubtedly draw a certain percentage of business because of their old-time popularity, but we must depend on other acts in the show to please those who are disappointed in them. The colored team, Adamini and Taylor, and Cressy and Dayne, will do this nicely. The audience was hard to arouse this afternoon, as it is once in so often, but that does not worry us any. Charles Ascott and Mlle. Eddie, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage In novelty dancing and acrobatic comedy. Proved to be a much better act than I had rated it and will swap it with one of those further up the bill for tomorrow and the balance of the week.
