PHILADELPHIA SHOW, DEC. 19TH'04 H.A. DANIELS. O'ROURKE & BURNETTE-ER-3-Man, woman an boy, singing and dancing act. Have been over the circuit many times. A good wooden shoe dancing act for the three show section. 15 mins. C.D.F 2-1/2 DE LASKA-ER-3-Man, magician. Has quite a good line of small tricks, some of them new. A very acceptable act for the three show division. 11 mins. C.D.F. 2-1/2 MARGARET SCOTT-SR-3-Vocalist. Does not make a very good appearance. Had no stage presence, and her makeup was ghastly--but she had the voice and received applause for her work. Fair three show act. 9 mins. in one. TOM ALMOND-NH-3-Eccentric long shoe and high pedestal dancing. Makes a lot of noise, and the early comers seemed interested at the novelty. Good three show act. 11 mins. in one. VALVENO BROS.-HR-3-Acrobats and hand balancers. The large man handles the small one about as he pleases, and without any apparent exertion. A very good hand balancing act. Nearly every trick was applauded. 8 mins. Gar. in 4. FITZGIBBONS-McCOY TRIO-GHR-2-Two men and a woman. Crazy sketch, entitled "A Mischievous Brother." Simply beyond description. A good two show act--always gets the laughs in this house. Woman's violin solo could be eliminated without hurting the act. 20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. BILLY CARTER-NH-2-Banjo, songs and monologue. Started off with a monologue that was mostly very poor. Dabbled in politics, biblical history, science, and the St. Louis Exposition. Talked like an amateur. His banjo work is of the (trum-trum) accompaniment kind. Some of his stories were laughed at, but the act on the whole lacks quality, action and ginger. Should be one hour earlier. 17 mins. in one. JULES AND ELLA GARRISON-YHR-2-New act, entitled "An Ancient Roman," for which they carry nine special drops. It is a burlesque tragedy in two scenes. Four supers add materially to the comedy. The act went very well to-day, the laughter being almost continuous. A very good act. Cut out about washing feet in the river Nile. 23 mins. Spec. Set. KELLY & VIOLETTE-GHR-2-Man and woman, singing and dancing specialties. The woman wears some magnificent gowns. Both have good voices. A very neat and pleasing act. 15 mins. in one. CAICEDO-YRR-2-Tight wire performer. Known over the circuit as probably the best in his line in vaudeville. Very good act. 10 mins. Gar. in 4. HILL AND WHITAKER-GYH-2-Received word this morning that they had not fully recovered from a very rough ocean voyage, and could not appear. LIQUID AIR-MYH-2-Twenty eight minutes this lecture lasted, somewhat too long, although the lecturer was liberally applauded at the close. However, it put a "kink" in the life of the show at 3.15, and will have to go on much earlier. A very interesting act. 28 mins. Pal. in 2. ELMER TENLEY-GHR-2-Monologue. Irish makeup. A very good talker, and presented some good stuff. Went very well. Good act. 18 mins. on A Lover's Ruse. Fair comedy. Petticoat Lane. Good. Among the Bunnies. Pleasing to the children. Whitechapel Sneak Thieves. Fair real life.
