PHILADELPHIA SHOW, JAN. 2ND'05. H. A. DANIELS. GOETZ & NELSON-KR-3-Two man, revolving globe and club juggling, one working straight, other as tramp. Comedy is rather crude in spots. Good little sight act for an opener in the three show section. 14 mins. Gar. 3 WILSON & DAVIS-NR-3-Two men, crossfire talking act. Very well known on the circuit. Have played this house oftener than any other act in vaudeville. Always seem to go well in an early place on the bill. 16 mins. in one. MARLOW, PLUNKET & CO.-GYH-3-Two men and a woman, travesty act "A Lesson in Shakespeare." Comedy sketch, some parts of which are good. Went well to-day with a packed house. Good three show act for the early bill. 19 min. C.D.F. in 3. THE GREGSONS-GRR-3-Man and woman. High class singing and dancing act. Neatly dressed, pleasing appearance, good vocalists. Good three show act. 15 mins. in one. POTTER & HARTWELL-GYH-2-Man and woman, acrobatic work and balancing. Good act of the kind for the early two show section. Hardly strong enough to close the show with. Went about "so-so" with a big holiday audience. 11 mins. Pal. in 5. MARIE MARELLE-GRR-2-Vocalist. A very "showy" singer, lacking the talent of many vocalists we play. Some of her selections went very well--others not so well. She sang Irish songs in opposition to Maggie Cline. In a small way, the acts conflict. 10 mins. in one. COLE & JOHNSON-YKR-2-First advance applause of the day. Act needs no comment. Will probably go as well this week as last. 25 mins. 3 Door Fancy in 3. DAVE NOWLIN-GRR-3-Vocal comedian, working straight. Went very well with the holiday crowd. Had some new songs that went well. Good three show act. 14 mins. in one. PAPINTO-MHR-2-Same act that she has always presented. Good for one trip a year, but for the salary she should get some new mirrors. Three of the log she has here are very bad. Good night act. 12 mins. Special in 5. WALTER C. KELLY-GYH-2-Dialect comedian, and a good one--very good one--best ever in this house. Can come back any time. Kept the audience laughing all the time he held the stage. 19 mins. in one. HENRY E. DIXEY & CO.-ARR-2-Playing "David Garrick;" Or, "The Art of Acting." Presented here once before. Rather a talky affair, but Dixey's name is a good drawing card here. "Over a Welsh Rarebit" is a better act for vaudeville. 20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. MAGGIE CLINE-SRR-2-Received advance applause. Her name has drawing power here. Sang some old Irish songs and went well. Her "Throw 'em Down McCluskey" was the applause hit of the show. 13 mins. Drapery in 2. RICE & PREVOST-YNH-2-Comedy acrobats. Very well known on the circuit. Probably the best act of its kind in vaudeville. 10 mins. Landscape in 4. THE BOLD BURGLARS. Very good comedy. J. ALDRICH LIBBEY & KATHERINE TRAYER-GHR-2-Man and woman. Little singing sketch that didn't seem to amount to a great deal to-day in the two show section. We had them on in a difficult place, after the Biograph, and this may, in a way, account for it. 17 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Close in one.
