Tom Brown and Mlle. Nevarro, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- Colored entertainers, in their well-known vocal and character specialties. Scored a big hit, especially with their Chinese impersonation, which is one of the cleverest bits of the kind in the varieties. Mr. and Mrs. Esmonde. 2 shows, 20 min. full stage -- First time in five years for this couple here. They present a dramatic playlet, "The Soldier of Propville", which was well acted throughout, and held the attention of the audience remarkably, although it was for the most part pathetic. They received two curtains at the finish. R. J. Jose, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- Sang four songs, and might have easily rendered another. His personal popularity here is wonderful. Toozoonin Arabs, 2 shows, 9 min. full stage -- The greatest group of tumblers in America. Aroused the audience to an immense pitch of enthusiasm. Hathaway and Walton, 3 shows, 9 min. in 1 -- Neatly dressed young man and woman, who open with a song and then go into wooden shoe dancing, which is the best done by any couple in the business, in my opinion. In one of the stiffest places on the bill, they easily made good. George H. Wood, 2 shows, 24 min. in 1 -- Blackface comedian and philosopher. He is an unquestionably clever man and held his audience intact throughout every minute of the time he occupied the stage. I did not expect this, as he sort of "fell down" at the Howard a few weeks ago. Spook Minstrels, 2 shows, 20 min. in 1 -- This act has been described in other reports. It made an excellent impression, although it got on nearly half an hour later than scheduled. Men working behind the sheet cannot make themselves distinctly heard in all parts of a large house like this, and I think it would be vastly improved if they eliminated the jokes altogether which can easily be done by cutting the film. I am going to suggest this to the manager who is here with it. The singing of "My Rosary" by the quintet at the close was one of the most pronounced hits of the show. Lloyd's Dogs, 2 shows, 7 min. full stage -- This is a small troupe of Siberian wolf hounds, exhibited by a man and woman. They do nothing except high jumping, and the animals managed to negotiate wonderful heights. As a freak act, it can be considered all right, although the small amount of time they give is somewhat against it. Comment - The audience was very large and unusually enthusiastic for Monday, and for the most part the show went big. When rearranged it is going to make as big a hit as that of last week, although it did not look so on paper.
