76 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of Febry. 6, 1905. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The show this week is somewhat disappointing. A couple of the big acts do not come up to expectations and there is a lack of comedy and life to the bill. Chadwick Trio. Man, woman and little girl in a rube act in which the only thing that is good is the girl's dancing. The act is just about good enough to open the show in a continuous house, certainly is no better than that. 20 min. in 2, they did not close in one which I was specifically told by Mr. Al Myers they did. 3 shows. Owley & Randall. Comedy juggling act which has been improved considerably since here before. Fairly good three a day turn. 11 min. in 3, 3 shows. C. W. Littlefield. In this spot on the bill he got by all right, and if he were doing three shows, I would say, he did a good act, but he never can get in the 2 a day section and make "good" in this house. He did that fairly successfully some years ago but he has not kept abreast of the times at all and he now has a good Sunday School act and that is about all there is to it. 18 min. in one, 2 shows. Reed & Shaw. Comedy ring act. These people also have improved their turn considerably since heretofore, having introduced quite a little new material. An act plenty good enough for the early two a day section. 13 min. full stage, 3 shows. Hathaway & Walton. Man and woman in a clever dancing act; the young fellow is an exceptionally good dancer. Very good three a day turn. 9 min. in one. Roattino and Stevens. In a novel act, singing by Miss Roattino and fancy dancing by Miss Stevens. Songs illustrated from a fancy cabinet which they use to do their act. A novel act and should be called, fairly good. 18 min. full stage, 2 shows. Stavordale - Quintette. Well known act which was accepted in a hearty manner by the audience. 12 min. in 1, 2 shows. Mr. & Mrs. Esmonde. In the "Soldier of Propville". No more artistic sketch has ever been presented in this theatre. A beautiful little play and certainly splendidly acted. They were honored with four curtain calls at the end of their act and they were genuine. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. Joe Flynn. Jokes and parodies; some of them new, some old. Went fairly well. Good two a day act if not depended upon for too much. 15 min. in one. Potter and Hartwell. This is a novelty in the way of head-balancing act, and acrobatic work very neatly introduced. The audience recognized the merit thoroughly. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Searl and Violet Allen. This act has been over the circuit sufficiently not to need description. They are quite good and if placed on where Joe Flynn is they will probably go very strong. Hardly good enough for so important a position on the bill. 18 min. in one, 2 shows.
