30 Cleveland Show, Week of June 4th, '06 [1906] (H/ A. Daniels) [H.A. Daniels] LILLIAN ASHLEY---Young lady entertaining with songs and stories. The songs are very good. Could stand a better place on the bill. Drop in one 13 min. VERNON---Ventriloquist. Is giving the same act he has for the past few years. A good ventriloquist act, but hardly in the class with Ed. Reynard. Went quite well today in this spot. 18 min. C.D.F. in 3. Close in 1 MC WATTERS & TYSON---Sketch entitled "Vaudeville." It would be impossible to discribe [describe] this act. It might be called a pocket edition of the Great Layfayette. It consists of a little of everything. They use a transparent drop with light effects, a large size steropticon [stereopticon] with water effects, presenting a part of Hermann The Great's act, do a little singing and dancing, give imitations of Marie Dressler etc., and do about everything you would find on a vaudeville program. Like Layfayette, they do such a variety of things that it is impossible to do any one of them real well. Act just got by with a small hand. Two men and three girls. 21 min. F. S. Special scenery. MUSICAL AVOLOS---Two men and two women playing xylophones. Act is well known. Very good act for this house. 11 min. Drop in one. COOK & MADISON---Two men. Tramp sketch entitled, "The Two Millionaires," which consists of some knockabout comedy, some acrobatic work, and ten minutes of cross-fire conversation. Carry special drop. They close in one with burlesque marksmanship with the soda crackers. Good act for this house. 18 min. F. S. Close in one. MARGARET WYCHERLY---Sketch "In Self Defense." Miss Wycherly assumes six characters. She is assisted by three men. The sketch is a serious dramatic offering concerning a murder, but ends so abruptly and unexpectedly that it leaves the audience in good humor, and ready for the next offering. The act held the closest attention for 25 min, and proved to be very entertaining. Special set in 4. 25 min. JOHNNY JOHNS---"The Dixey Boy." An imitation of George Evans, "The Honey Boy." Copies his makeup, dress and business. The act went very well this afternoon, and held down this difficult spot without the least difficulty. In another year the act should be as good as George Evans. Drop in one. 12 min. FLYING RATHBUNS---For this house this act is altogether too slow for this spot on the bill. What they do they do well, but they fuss around and pose to such an extent that it takes the edge off the interest, and the people will not keep their seats and wait for them. This act would go much better in the middle of the bill, but I have nothing else to put in its place. F. S. 10 min. KINETOGRAPH---Tours of Italy. Very interesting.
