The PHAYS. Here they do the regular John T. and Eva Fay work which went very strongly indeed, getting lots of laughter and exciting considerable comment. At the finish they showed how it was all done, and closed to a big hand. In view of the fact that MORRIS and the SHUBERTS have announced that they are going to put out several Vaudeville shows, in one of which THE FAYS are to appear, I think that every city in which these Companies are likely to play, ought to put this act on and head them off and I lay particular stress upon BOSTON playing them at once before they get to the Orpheum, but I advise not making this the principal feature of the show, make it "an added attraction" or "a second headliner." 22 min. full stage. Lily Seville. In this pretty hard spot for this girl, she went very well indeed; and responded to two curtain calls at the finish. Of course this is because of her song "Waiting at the Church" which has never been done in this house, except by her last year and I was obliged to put her on then about seven o'clock. However, she is all right for an eight o'clock spot anywhere. 13 min. in 1, 3 shows. RAIN-DEARS. Best girl act in the business, which went tremendously strong; several curtain calls at the finish. 18 min. full stage, 3 shows. Nat Haines. Poor Nat, this was an awfully tough spot for him and I was afraid, in the early part of his act that he was "dead", but towards the end he got them pretty well and went off to strong applause. I think he will make a hit at the night show. 18 min. in 1, 3 shows. Bartholid's Birds. A very good act of the usual kind, by Cockatoos presented by a good looking woman and nicely staged. I put it on at this spot for the afternoon performance and earlier in the evening, as it is hardly an act to close the night's show. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Motion Pictures. I didn't see this afternoon.
