206. NEW YORK CRITICISM, DEC. 24th, 1906. THE PELOTS---Soubrette and woman in bell boy costume in Comedy juggling and patter. This is a good opening act for Christmas week, as it makes the youngsters laugh. They carry their own drop. 15 minutes, 2 1/2, Could close in one. Three shows. JACK DAVIS---Monologue. Very ordinary act, and it is a mystery to me how he ever got by the other houses. 11 minutes in one. Three shows. THE DE MUTHS----Man and woman in Dancing and talking specialty. The man's individual dancing is fairly good, and his finish in one with some contortion work saved the act. The woman changes three times, and looks well. 19 minutes, full stage. Close in one. LA BELLE TRIO---Three men in white minstrel act. Straight, Dutch and kid. This act got applause and laughter in spots. The Dutchman is very good, but most of the jokes are very ancient. Singing only fair. Open and close in one. 2 1/2 for one song with megaphone. Three shows, 18 minutes. CAMPBELL & KENNEY---Two men in singing and talking act. These men are very good indeed, and the act caused the first genuine laughter of the afternoon. Their Irish patter is up-to-date, but they fell down with their parodies. 13 minutes in one, three shows. MOONEY & HOLBEIN---Man and woman. Singing and dancing. The man dances very well, and makes a hit, but their singing is only ordinary. This is distinctly a three show act, and how they are in the two show section I can't understand. Their finish is good. 16 minutes, full stage. AURIE DAGWELL---Young woman in College Cap and gown who opened with a medley of College songs which she followed with descriptive songs in neat white dress. This woman's personality carries her, as her voice is not particularly good. But the act is refined and pleasing. 12 minutes in one. BELLCLAIRE BROS. ---At last the audience really woke up. They were beginning to wonder. These men are great and I cannot recommend the act too much. It is one of those acts that makes them talk. Their hand to hand work is wonderful. 12 minutes, open in two, Special black drop, close, full stage. QUINLAN & MACK----In "The Traveling Dentist." A very good laughing act. Straight and colored. The colored man is very funny, and is well "fed" by the straight man. They went very well indeed. 18 minutes in one. Special Drop.
