#2.-Phila. VOLTA,Electrical marvel: 25 min. F. S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:00. As a novelty this act is certainly interesting, being quite out of the line of Vaudeville attractions. He makes a good presentation on the stage, and his feats are certainly spectacular and apparently on the level. He lights gas with the tip of his tongue, sets fire to handkerchiefs from the soles of his feet and ends of his hair, and otherwise shows perfect immunity from electrical voltage. The closing part of the work in F.S. includes a mimic banquet at which the sparks are flying in all directions and the participants, from the audience, furnish a lot of amusement to the crowd. Short close in 1 consists of welding iron under water with the naked hand. On the whole the act pleased the audience and brought strong applause. Volta will undoubtedly be talked about a great deal this week and should bring some new recruits to the house. BURKE & DEMPSEY,Comedians:- 18 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:25. Two men, one working straight and the other booby. Consists mainly in amusing line of talk which kept the audience in good humor. Closed well, with a curtain call. "FISHING" ,Harry Tate's:- 27 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 8:43. We were led to think that this act was better than "Motoring", when in reality, in our opinion, it falls short of it, For all that, it is novel and funny all the way through, and the audience seemed to like it. There were laughs constantly. A good may of the hits were Very English and for that reason were not fully understood by our audience. There are many incident which are full of grotesque humor, and on the whole it catches the house. FInished big. BESSIE WYNN, Vocaliste:- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:10. Makes a very charming, though rather ultra-modest, picture. Sang three songs with grace and a pleasing individuality. Hers is a voice of much sweetness. Each one of the songs was applauded and the close was strong. The second song she sang to a "stall" in the balcony who pretended to be driven out of his seat by the spotlight. This made a bit hit, with the gallery. A change of costume in the "Teddy Bear" song, which was applauded immensely, brought an encore. Then we sang "Somebody's waiting for You", with the assistance of a confederate in the first balcony. This made such a hit that the audience demanded an encore.Miss Wynn will be talked about and will undoubtedly draw for the remainder of the week. WILLARD SIMMS & CO,"Flinder's Furnished Flat":- 20 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:27. (close in 1). This act, so familiar to all, is full of ginger, dash and go all the way through. It concerns the troubles of a man who comes into a wrong flat and starts in to paper the room. There is certainly a lot of fun of the knockout order in this situation. It reminds one of the "Simon-Gardner "New Coachman". It is easily the laughing hit of the show this week. Close in 1 included burlesque on the seamy side of a comic opera rehearsal. Closed big.
