242. Cleveland Show Week Jan. 21, 1907. (H. A. Daniels) HATHAWAY & SIEGEL -- Boy and girl in a sketch entitled "Hotel Bluff". It is a harmless little affair. The talking amount to nothing The man's dancing carries the act. If they would cut out the "sketch part" and make it a straight singing and dancing act it would be worth a whole lot more in the Keith houses. Special set in three Close in one. 17 minutes. RAE & BROSCHE -- Sketch "A Woman of Few Words." This act is well known on the circuit and consists principally of cross fire talk and jokes. Open in one. go to C.D.F. in three. Close in one. 19 min. BERNER'S MANIKINS -- This man's name should be spelled Bernar. He bills himself the Great Bernar, King of Marionettes. The act is also called Bernar's fantastic fantouches. This act was a great surprise. I consider the act better than Jewell's or Holden's. While the man comes out and announces that one would know but that a half a dozen people were working them. The stage setting is clean and well arranged. The boxes contain figures that work and a complete orchestra, with the musical director working throughout the act as in Jewell's act. This man presents a regular vaudeville show. The first number is a foot-juggler, who uses a barrell similar to the japanese. The second artist is a magician, who accomplishes some really wonderful tricks, the best I have ever seen. The third number is an equiibrist and juggler. The fourth is two musical clowns with sleigh bells on their hands and feet, who play a tune in conjunction with the orchestra, and do it nicely. The next number is an equestienne on a horse. The performance closes with a ballet of six girls with their costumes full of electric lights as in Harndin's Ballett. I would consider the act excellent. I believe it can hold down any spot on any bill, and from this afternoon's performance I would prefer it to any manikin act I have ever played. F. S. Special set. 13 min. ROONEY SISTERS -- Daughter of the famous Pat. Two very pretty girls daintily costumed. They cannot sing at a very fast clip, but they do dance some distance. Did not startle anyone, but managed to get by with a little applause. 10 min. Drop in one. HARRY GILFOIL -- Doing his old act "Baron Sands" which consists of his well known imitations. Same act he played for years. Gilfoil has a good act, and it is well worth half the money he is getting. Open C.D.F. in three. close in one. 20 minutes. WILL CRESSY & BLANCHE DAYNE -- Presenting for the first week "A Village Lawyer" Received advance applause and curtain calls at the close. Cressy is just as popular as he is in the other houses on the circuit, and that is about all that is necessary. Special set F. S. 21 minutes. JACK NORWORTH -- "The College Boy." This fellow is working white face. He sings songs, tells jokes, and stories following about the same line of work he ahs always done. He is now getting the George Cohen style and semmed to hit the popular fancy this afternoon. Drop in one. 16 minutes. MERKEL SISTERS -- Four girls in a contortion and equilibristic act that is excellent. One of the nest acts of the kind I have ever seen. Should be able to close any show and make good. F. S. 9 minutes. KINETOGRAPH -- Off For The Holidays. A comedy film that went with roars of laughter. CUTS: - HATHAWAY & SIEGEL Sentence about bed bug registering. RAE & BROSCHE -- Story about spitting on the motorman.
