250 250. NEW YORK CRITICISM ------ JAN. 28th, 1907. THE TWO KINGS --- Man and woman. I gave these people a trial here some time ago. They hardly come up to what I thought they would, but they are both young good looking, fair vocalists and dancers and get by the three show section. All right for the money. 18 minutes in one. DE VOY & MILLER ---- Comedy Acrobats. Some of their tricks are very clever, but the comedy end is bad. Fair applause, but the act just gets by. 14 minutes, full stage. Three shows. HOWARD & RUTHERFORD --- Two men straight and Dutch. These men had a hard time after the last two acts to make them laugh, but eventually "landed."m Nothing new, but their rapid fire talk made them laugh, and the act is all right for this part of the show. 15 minutes in one. DEODATA --- Italian Magician who had a trial here last Thursday, and as I predicted made good. He has a splendid act, and luckily cannot speak English, and his whole act is pantomime. He opens with Ching Ling Foo's Fire trick, and all his tricks went very well. A "find" for the money. His closing trick is a corker. Both Deodato and assistant are dressed in red swallow tails and black satin Knee breeches. Very little paraphernalia and no steps to the Audience. 17 minutes, full stage. DAISY DUMONT --- Young lady with good personality, well dressed with good voice, and went fairly well but we are getting so many of these "fair" single women acts, that they have to be more than good to get applause. 9 minutes in one. SUTCLIFFE TROUPE ---- At last the audience woke up. Advance applause. Six men and a woman in Scottish uniforms dances and pipe playing. Evidently quite a lot of Scotch people in front, as all their numbers got good hands. It is a good clean act. Their acrobatic work is also very good, and the act as a whole pleased. Well worth the money. 13 minutes, full stage. CAIN & MITCHELL --- Two men in a dialogue called "The Frenchman and the other fellow". This act went very well indeed. Most of their patter is new, and they received lots of laughs all through. The idea is novel and gets away fro, the conventional. Quite a hit here. 15 minutes in one. JACK THE GIANT KILLER --- After this act having played the other houses at much cheaper prices than mine, I was very much afraid of it, as my Monday houses are almost all "Stag" ones but much to my surprise the act went very well. The dwarf Comedian of course is the star of the act, and Capt. Auger is a much better actor than is usual with Giants. The English Pantomime "blank verse" is very old fashioned, but is overlooked by the cleverness of the little people. The song of the little chap got terrific applause, and he certainly is a wonder. The finish got big applause. 22 minutes, full stage. interesting film. Bobby the Galloon. Very funny. NOTE --- At last I have the kind of show they really like here. Good comedy and the audience was kept in good humor all thro' the main part of the show. I predict bug business for the week. Lindsay Morison.
