7. NEW YORK CRITICISM---FEB. 11th, 1907. DALY & DEVERE--Man and woman in sketch. Man does the "Geo. Monroe" Act as an Irish serving Girl. A very bad act. Woman old and homely, and only a very few laughs in act. 16 minutes, full stage. HARRY JOLSON--Black-face Comedian on the Geo. Evans style. Very good voice, and his songs got a good hand. His patter is fair and the act is above the average one for three shows. I can recommend it. 15 minutes in one. HARRINGTON & LESTER---Man and woman in talking and Piano playing act. Man is very good. Woman not so good, but finishes with a whistling specialty that is good. Good three show act. 17 minutes in one. AN LING SOO---Chinese Magician with some of Chin Ling Foo's tricks on a small scale that get good applause. His trick of being pulled up by the hair is novel and very good. Another valuable three show act for the money. Could easily open the two-a-day houses. 15 minutes, full stage. Close in one. FRED WATSON & MORRISSEY SISTERS---This act was a disappointment to me. The two women are only fair looking, and the ensemble dancing nothing out of the ordinary. The close in one went well, and the man's voice is good but he has a disagreeable personality. 15 minutes, full stage. Close in one. LUCIA & VIATA---Two good looking young women in a corking good wire act. Well dressed, neat and went very well indeed in this place. Good act, and much better than some higher priced acts I have had. 10 minutes, Full stage. CLARICE VANCE---Usual big hit. Voice and selections as good as ever. 10 minutes in one. BROWN, HARRIS & BROWN---The kind of act that is always a huge hit in this house. "Good old Vaudeville." The Comedian is very funny, dresses very well, and the young man fills in splendidly with fair voice and good dancing. One of the best acts in Vaudeville for the money. The finish was terrific. 25 Minutes, full stage. Close in one. ALBERTINE MELION---Bird act. Good looking woman with one of the "wire act" for assistant. A really good act. Apparatus pretty and showy, and the work of the birds good. The value of these two acts "Lucia & Viata" and this one for the money cannot be too highly recommended. 10 minutes full stage. FRANK BUSH---This well known man went as well as ever with some new and old stories. The audience like him, and gave him big applause and that ends it, but some of the better class of the audience simply squirm at his awful English. 17 minutes in one. I expected. Ray is cheating on the thin man, as the act would be much funnier with a Comedian doing this work instead of an automaton. Fair applause. 16 minutes in one. SUNNY SOUTH---Personally I can't see this act, but it made a big hit with the audience, and some of the ensemble and rapid fire dancing is certainly very good. The two principals are fair, but the big hit was made by the eight chorus people in their singing and final dancing. 18 minutes in one. KINETOGRAPH----Willis visits his Aunt. Funny. Sea By Moonlight. Very good artistic film.. Following Father's Footsteps. Very funny pictures. NOTE------- Another good all round show, and while we have nothing new, it pleases our audience and I look for a continuation of good business. I have ceased to worry about the "Big" things unless I get them first. Lindsay Morison.
