25. NEW YORK CRITICISM ------FEB. 25th, 1907- EARLE & BARTLETT-----Man and woman in singing and talking sketch. Very weak, and failed to please here. The talk is very old fashioned, and singing only ordinary. 12 minutes, full stage. KENNEY & HOLLIS----Two men well known on circuit, and a really good three show act. The act went very well indeed, and could easily open the two-a-day houses. 13 minutes in one. PAUL FREDERICK---Slack wire Act. Good act. His tricks with Indian Clubs etc. on the wire were very good, and received quite a good deal of applause. Good three show act. 10 minutes, full stage. LEWIS & HARR---Man and woman in black face act presenting old Southern Songs. Sort of a negro "Darby and Joan" act. Nothing new in the act, but it went as well as the rest of the three show section. Makeups are good, and the audience always are fond of the old Meoldies. However the act is not worth $100.00 even for three shows. ARMSTRONG & CLARK----Two men in singing and talking act. Black face and straight. Clark plays their accompaniments on Piano, and they sing their own songs. These men gave me a trial here, and as I predicted they made a big hit and are well worth the money. Comedy is good, and Music is first class. Big applause. 18 minutes, Draperty 21/2 and three recalls. WILLIAM TOMKINS---Monologist. I was rather disappointed with this man. Nothing particualrly new, and parodies very ordinary. Would not care for him again. 12 minutes in one. MOSHER HOUGHTON AND MOSHER----Three men in Bicycle act. This act made a terrific hit, and the work is certainly the best of its kind I have had here. Their team work is great, and got big applause. The Comedy man besides being funny did most of the really hard work. 12 minutes, full stage. KELLY & VIOLETTE---Advance applause. Same old act to same old hit. Aways big favorites at this house, and altho' they only played here four months ago their hit was marked. 14 minutes in one. ZISKA & KING---Well known act. Two men. Straight and Comedy in Comedy Magic Act. This act made a big hit here, and kept the audience in continual laughter. Their finish in one is also very good. 15 minutes, full stage. the audience to the finish. To me this is one of the most wonderful acts I have ever seen. How this woman ever got the horse to get used to the different blazing Colors, and the dancing of her dress before his eyes is a mystery. Corking good act. Of course, this stage is very small for her act. 14 minutes, full stage. KINETOGRAPH------ Nagging the Bull. Good interesting film. Teddy Bers. Good Comedy. NOTE------ Corking good all round show, and pleases better than last week, although $800.00 cheaper. I had to change Ziska & King's place this afternoon on account of their baggage being late from Lawrence. All right to-night. Lindsay Morison.
