Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of March 4, 1907. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill is very satisfactory indeed; I don't know that there is any place to find any fault and everything blends excellently. Geo. Whalen. Baton juggler and story teller. Local act that is all right for our purpose; might do to open the show in the other houses. 18 min. open and close in 1, 3 shows. Thomas & Payne. Colored man and woman. Act is well known, they did exceedingly well and could hold down a much better place. The man's dancing is very good also his work on roller skates. 17 min. in 1, 3 shows. Ben Morse. Comedy bicyclist. Good little 3-a-day act. O. K. to open the show or second on the bill. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Lillian LeRoy. Vocalist. From a 3-a-day standpoint the girl is all right - in the early section. 12 min. in 1, 3 shows. Mazuz & Mazette. These people always do very well here indeed. To my mind the man is a very funny comedian and they are both good acrobats and contortionists. They hold down this spot excellently and could take a better position with credit. 17 min. full stage, can close in 1, 2 shows. Jock Whitford. Scotch comedian. This man is something of a disappointment. His work s rather boisterous and lacks finish. In Boston he was asked to cut out his second song of the "Snow Scene" and I like that best of anything he does, and the audience this afternoon agreed with me. I am going to have him cut out his Scotch story of the Foot Ball Game which did not seem to be understood at all. I dont believe the trouble is so much that the audience don't understand the character as it is that the man isn't funny or clever to any decided degree. I have never seem Jack Lorimer but Mr. Whitford - by no means - compares with Harry Lauder who is a great London favorite, in the same line. He did 23 min. opening and closing in 1. I shall cut it down to about 18 min. tonight. 2 shows. The Dainty Four. Singing and dancing act, principally dancing by four young ladies, rather atrractive and neatly presented. A good act if not depended upon too much. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Dr. Bowker. Illustrated travelogue "Imperial India" A most interesting performance, held the audience all through with strong applause at the finish. A feature of this kind lends considerable tone to a vaudeville bill and is appreciated by the best people and is instructive to all. 20 min. in 1, 2 shows. Wilfred Clarke & Co. In the howling farce "What Will Happen Next". No one knows how to put on these farces any better, if as well as these people. They have the audience screaming from the time that they begin until they end. In 15 min. they condense as much stuff as is usually given by other acts of the same kind in 26 min. A big hit. 15 min. full stage, 2 shows. Swor Brothers. Blackface comedians.and dancers; been described before. Did very well indeed in this spot. 20 min. in 1, 2 shows.
