51 125th STREET THEATRE CRITICISM E. F. ROGERS March 18th, 1907 --ooOoo-- APDALE'S ANIMALS: Act consists of bears, monkeys, Dogs and a trained Ant-Eater. Animals are very well trained and do some stunts, which are far from the ordinary, especially that of the ant-eater riding the globe; the monkey's jump from the top of the proscieum arch; the bear playing the banjo, waltzing, etc. Big applause on the finish. 14 min.-full stage ELMER TENLEY: This man was an absolute fizzle this afternoon; not getting any applause or laughs. Left the stage without a hand. His material remains the same. The Jury being cold and lifeless, hence, their decision. Went much better at the evening performance and proved himself fully capable. 8 min. QUAKER CITY QUARTET: Some little advance applause. Well trained. Negoiated this spot in very good shape and finished very strong. 27 min. closed in one about 8 min. OKABE'S JAPS: 2 men and 3 boys. Acrobatic and Equilibrists. They use their own embroidered drop, not quite as handsome as the one used by the Kitamura's. Act consists of acrobatic and equilibristic work. Their boys proved popular from the start-off. Their work is excellent. Applause hit of the show up to this time. 13 min. - full stage RAY COX: This woman has improved greatly. Has a lot of new material. Caught the house on the start-off. Received a big lot of laughs and made a pronounced hit. Compelled to encore several girls singing and playing the cymbals. Finale:- "The Musician Directeurs Excentrique." Between the various settings Mlle. Flor D'Alisa and Miss Meredith Meradro singing alternately. Act is handsomely staged. The costumed are gorgeous with elegant scenery. Girls make five changes. Their appearances are elegant and their voices good. Act has an atmosphere of novelty to it. Brings up the tone of the bill being so far from anything else we ever had. All of the various characters were applauded and with big applause on the finish. 27 min RICE & PREVOST: Some advance applause. Received quite a number of laughs, but di dnot go as strong as on former occasions. 10 min KINETOGRAPH: "The Master's Tea Service" Good comedy
