103 Report on Show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of April 23, 1907. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill is a worthy one to close the vaudeville season with, almost everything of any consequence on the bill going exceedingly well. Musical Simpsons. Did not appear, refusing to open the show. They quit absolutely and would listen to no argument on the question. There has been so much of this going on of late and then the next house playing the act that performers have come to consider that they can violate their contracts and still go ahead with the rest of their work. If we continue in this strain it will only be a matter of time before all performers will tell us what time they go on, how they shall be billed, and where theiy shall dress and it seems to me that it is time that we disciplined a few of them by refusing to book them until they have shown thoroughly their repentance. For that reason I do not believe that this act should be booked on the Keith Circuit for another six months to come and it is a special request of mine that no manager does book them until I am satisfied. Seymour's Dogs. Four canines in the usual trained dog stunts. A very good 3-a-day act. 18 min. full stage, 3 shows. The Two Hydes. These people do some fairly clever grotesque dancing and a little singing which they have tried to weave into a sketch, but it is hard to understand what they are talking about and that together with the short-ness of the act makes it of very little value. 9 min. in 3, 3 shows. Fed Watson & Morrissey Sisters. Singing and dancing and a little piano playing by Mr. Watson. The act made no impression upon the audience whatever and I am shifting their place for Garon & Herbert. 13 min. open full stage, close in one, 2 shows. Bernar's Manikins. I will bear out all the good things that have been said of this act by the other managers and would be glad to play them again. 16 min. full stage, 2 shows. Helena Frederick. Mezzo soprano who held the place acceptably and pleased the audience. 11 min. in 1, 2 shows. Mr & Mrs. Sidney Drew. In their best sketch "When Two Hearts Are Won" which made a decided hit. 19 min. full stage, 2 shows. Kemp's "Tales of The Wild." Being an Illustrated lecture of the West. These people have the finest stereopticon views I ever saw. The act is full of novelty and is bound to please and draw. 20 min. in 1, 2 shows. Chas. E. Mack & Co. An Irish sketch "Come Back to Erin". I want to explode the idea that seems prevalent that this is a singing act. There is a little singing in it, but it is of no consequence at all and is only an incident to the Irisn peasant life of modern times and a little of the work formerly done by Callahan & Mack on the bench with the matches, bag pipe playing and Irish jigs and reels. The act was a decided hit, the audience demanding several curtain calls that were really genuine. 16 min. full stage, 2 shows. (This act follows Wtason & Morrissey Sisters.) is one of the best acrobats that we have ever had, comedy good, act as a whole went very well. 14 min. full stage, close in one, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. O. K.
