Howell Hansel & Co. On at 8.56, 20 min, full stage. Mr. Hansel has just closed his season at the Castle Sq. Theatre and is not to return to that house this fall. He was put in here in hopes that he would prove a strong drawing-card locally. The receptions he received this afternoon and evening seem to show that he will exceed expectations. The sketch that he is playing, "A Forgotten Combination", does not amount to a whole lot, and would have to be put through a course of sprouts, if it was to be generally presented. Reiff Bros. On at 9.16, 12 min, in 1. The clean-cut appearance and manner of work of these boys won them instant attention. I consider them among the best acts in 1 that we have played this season, and certainly hope to learn that they have signed a blanket. Bard Bros. On at 9.28, 11 min, full stage. I played them in this position instead of closing the show with them, as I wanted the full benefit of their wonderful act. They made their customary sensation. Sydney Deane & Co., in "Christmas on Blackwell's Island". On at 9.39, 21 min, in 1 1/2. Held this spot most satisfactorily; made one of the big hits of the show. Would there were more acts in 1 of as novel a nature. Les Salvaggies. On at 10 o'clock, 10 min, full stage. Not as strong a closing act as I would like, but I had to play them here on account of using the Bards further up the bill. I do not think that there will be any cause to regret this arrangement. The best act of the kind I know of. The women are pretty, graceful, shapely and certainly can dance. The costuming is all that can be desired. Kinetograph. On at 10.10, 20 min. "The Billiard Fever", very good comic. "Cosmopolitan Dances", fine colored film, one of the best we have had in some time. "Baby's First Outing" and "The Amateur Photographer", both good comics. Comment. A pretty good show. Two or three changes and a little more money would make it a corker. Of course, Hansel is this week's dependence as a drawing-card, and I think that the rest of the bill will make good. No cuts.
