May 20, 1907. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C. E. BARNS. FOUR BELLES --13 minutes. On at 6.32. Local act. Four pretty girls. Very young and promising. Made quite a hit for an act of this kind in an obscure spot. KELSO & LEIGHTON --15 minutes. On at 6.45. Rather clever little sketch that could hold a light spot on the 3 a day section. Man and woman of merely ordinary ability, with good material that works up to a fair climax. Fair hand at finish. THE HOLDENS.--12 minutes. On at 7.00. Coon song and dance act. Very spirited and lively, making a good impression. Would succeed on a better spot on the bill. The singing is good and dancing particularly commendable. FRANCIS WOOD.--11 minutes. On at 7.12. "The Man With The Hoops." Full stage. 3 Shows. Does very well as an opener, as previously. Act is well dressed and professional. O. K. for almost any spot on the 3 a day section. BERNIER & STELLA.--12 minutes. On at 7.23. Man and woman, both working straight. This is a neat little act. The girl is pretty; dresses becomingly, and their singing is particularly commendable. Well received. The Dancing was not quite up to the standard, and the consequence was that the close was only fair. If they close with a good song, the act would be improved. KELLY & O'BRIEN.--18 minutes. On at 7.42. This is an amusing sketch, full of bright lines and plenty of dash and "go." Miss O'Brien appears in two changes of costume. The close in 1, as "tough boy and girl, made an effective finish. Went off with a rousing big hand. The encore was a burlesque prize fight announcement, which was very funny, and likewise received an encore. These are good people for a much better spot on the bill. Opened F. S. Close in 1. WILLIE PANTZER TRIO.--14 minutes. On at 8.00. Four people. 3 Acrobats and a coon. This is a very interesting act throughout. The little fellow is certainly a wonder--not only in acrobatic skill, but he is a genius in humor as well. Some of the tumbling stunts are really beyond anything ever seen here. The applause which greeted one brilliant feat after another was big. The paraphernalia includes a manikin, a tossing board, skidding bar and even an Angora cat. Received four encores. This act is sure to be talked about. It is certainly the "goods" CHARLES F. SEMON--16 minutes. On at 9.43. Opens in 1, with a song and an amusing line of talk. Goes to F. S. with a change of costume. The work of this man is certainly original, and the fun is increased by his grotesque figure and facial expression. Got a good many laughs, and strong applause after his selections on the picolo and one-string violin. His sewing-table bag-pipe and hat-rack whistle got an immense hand. This man could hold any spot on the bill with credit. ENGLISH PONY BALLET.--7 minutes. On at 10.05. Six stunningly costumed girls, whose dancing evolutions are simply great. It is no wonder that they have been an international hit. Mighty strong feature on any bill. Will be talked about. BEN WELCH.--20 minutes. On at 10.12. Some of the closest and best character work ever seen in vaudeville. The Hebrew was quite as good as the Italian, and perhaps a little richer in humor; but both held good attention and received strong applause. Closed well.
