(125TH STREET THEATRE CRITICISM) (PAGE TWO) PHIL & NETTIE PETERS: Talking and Singing Comedy. This act held their own here in great shape. They were easily the applause hit of the show up to this time. While their material is all old, they certainly got the laughs, probably due to their first American appearance in many months and seemed like new faces. 18 min. in one GALLAGHER & BARRETT: In their military travesty:-"The Battle of too-Soon" Playing in this vicinity a few weeks ago, hurt this act very materially. Did not go as strong as when last here. 18 min BIG CITY FOUR: 3 eccentric and one blackface. This quartet is nothing to brag about. They have the selections and fairly good harmony, but the voices are just so and so. The comedy end of the act does not amount to a great deal. They received some laughs and fairly good applause. 17 min. in one ELLIS-NOWLAN TROUPE: 4 men and 1 woman. This act is strengthened with the addition of two men, who are good acrobats. There is a lot of new work introduced by the original trio. The big feature that they talk about is the prop horse. They get a lot of laughs on the dancing of the horse and the bare-back riding of Ellis. The act was not by any means a sensation. I am sorry that I billed them as a headline attraction, altho it pleased. 11 min KINETOGRAPH: "Buying a ladder" Very Good.
