151 UNION SQUARE CRITICISM, WEEK OF JUNE 10th, 1907. THE LA BELLES. Man adn [and[ woman in Comedy Juggling, Club and hoop Rolling Act. A corking good opening act, and could stand a better place. Man's Comedy is fair, and their tricks are well and neatly done. Big applause. Three shows, 13 minutes, full stage. Could close in one. CHAS. & NELLIE KING. Young man and woman in a singing and dancing act. Both good looking and well dressed. Neat little three show act that got good applause. 11 minutes in one. SOPHIE EVERETT & CO. In a Comedy sketch called "A House Warming." Two men and a woman. The sketch is funny, and got laughs in spots, but failed to score heavily. The people are better than the sketch. However very good value for a three show act. 20 minutes, full stage. MARTIN BROS. Two young men in Xylophone selections. Very good plays, and their paraphernalia and uniforms are excellent. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best three show act I have ever had here. Big applause after each selection. 15 minutes in one. HARRY JOLSON. Blackface Monologist and singer. Very good act indeed. This man has a splendid voice, and is quite funny, and his burlesque opera Singing made a terrific hit. This man has improved wonderfully Three shows, 18 minutes in one. ELSIE FAYE & BISSETT & MILLER. Very good looking girl assisted by two young men in a singing and dancing act. The changes of costume are very good, and the whole act is neat and refined. The boys dancing is especially good. Fair applause. 15 minutes in two. NICHOLS SISTERS. Well known. They went as well as ever. Big advance applause. These girls always make good. 13 minutes in one. MR. & MRS. ALLISON. In "Minnie from Minnesota." Another well known act that went very well. The man has a very good voice, and his songs made a hit. The woman is funny as the Swedish girl. Good applause. 17 minutes, full stage. [name cut off] applause. Very effective. Special scenery. Open in two, close full stage. 14 minutes. HOWARD AND NORTH. Well known act that was a big laughing hit from start to finish. Special Scene in one. 19 minutes. HOUDINI. Second Week. Doing his straight jacket stunt this week, and have several features scheduled for him. 30 minutes, full stage. KINETOGRAPH. Washings Badly Marked. Funny. A Clever Detective. Very good film. Catching the Kid. Good Comedy. NOTE. Show doesn't look like much on paper, but seemed to make a hit. Martin Bros., Jolson, Bassini, Daly and Howard and North made emphatic hits. Lindsay Morison.
