UNION SQUARE CRITICISM, WEEK OF JUNE 17th, 1907. WILBUR AMOS. Juggler. This fellow does a fair act. His juggling is very good. His comedy is very poor, but it is all right to open the show with. Went fair. 15 minutes, full stage. VIRGINIA SARGENT. Soprano Singer. this girl has a very good voice, but to-day she was a little nervous. She has a very good stage appearance, but a little bit amateurish. I have no doubt that she will make good. Went very well. 10 minutes in one. DENNO BROS. This is a very good Comedy acrobatic act. I gave them a trial Performance here a few weeks ago, and I considered the act so good at that time that I gave them a week. I can recommend the act, and can go third on any bill. One of the men has only one leg, and some of his acrobatic work is really wonderful. Went very well. 10 minutes, full stage. CHARLES HOWISON. This fellow was another one of our thursday morning trials. He is one of the best whistlers I have ever heard. His best work is imitations of different birds which are very good. The audience seemed to like him very much this afternoon. I am very glad to say that he made good. 10 minutes in one. HARRY BOTTER & CO. This act has played here before, and at its last appearance it was much better than it is now. Mr. Botter is very good himself, but I did not care for his support. The idea of the act is very good, and there is plenty of comedy in it. Did not go as good as I expected, but it might improve to-night. Went fair. 18 minutes, full stage. HESTER MAGEE. Contralto Singer. This woman has a very good voice. She makes a very good appearance, and is tall and very good looking. Her first selection was not very good, but the other two were very good, and went very well. This is one of Mr. Morison's "Finds" from our Thursday Mornings rehearsals. I have no doubt that she will make good in any of our houses at about $75.00 two shows. 10 minutes, in one. exception of one woman. He does not do much dancing in this act, as he did in the old act. I would rather prefer a little more dancing as he is a very clever dancer. The act went very well. 21 minutes, open in one, and close in full stage. HOUDINI. Third and last week. Mr. Houdini did not go as well as the other two weeks, on account of the people being anxious to see him to-night, and every other night this week in his challenges. He has accepted a challenge for every night. His main challenge being the Box trick next Thursday night. KINETOGRAPH. A SLAVE'S LOVE. A very good film. The Clown Doctor. Very good comedy. REED ALBEE
