(2) Matthews & Ashley. On at 4.04, 15 min, in 1. While they hold this place satisfactorily, there is hardly any difference in the act from the times they got $175, $200 and $250. The only reason I can see why they are getting $350 is because they can hold the next to closing spot. Elton-Polo Troupe. On at 4.19, 10 min, full stage. While this is a very good casting act, there are six or seven acts of the same style that I prefer, for the reason that they work with more snap, and as most of them have tour in the troupe there are no long waits between tricks. Kinetograph. On at 4.29, 25 min. Showing three pictures taken especially for this theatre: "Morning at the South Station", "Morning at the North Station" and "Launching of the Cruiser 'Salem'". The first two are of purely local interest, while the launching is a corking fine film and will create comment anywhere. We are holding the "Elks' Parade in Philadelphia" by request, as it gives a capital picture of Boston Lodge. "Chasing A Motorist", a fair comedy film. Stevenson & Nugent. On at 4.53, 14 min, in 1; 3 shows. Comedians and dancers, one working straight, the other in grotesque make-up. Above the average of 3-a-days. Could hold the number two spot in the smaller houses. Sophie Everett & Co. On at 5.07, 20 min, full stage; 3 shows. A comedy sketch with great possibilities. With the trimming of a few long speeches at the start and the addition of a little more business, it is my belief that this sketch, with two competent men supporting Miss Everett, would make good anywhere. This act will bear watching. Charley Farrell. On at 5.27, 10 min, in 1; 3 shows. An excellent delineator of the old plantation darky. He sings, whistles and dances, doing all three very well. An excellent act for the money. I would not be afraid to use him in the 2-show section in an early place, if necessary. Comment. A good summer show, well balanced and moving smoothly. No cuts.
