Report on Providence Show, Week of September 9, 1907. Charles Lovenberg, Mgr. This is a corking good variety show with lots of life, color and comedy, and with the children features there should be no doubt of a big week's business. Zano Magician. This fellow does a pretty good act, considering price. Thoroughly all right to open the three-a-day section. 11 Min. in 2, 3 shows. Viola & Engel Comedy acrobats and barrel jumpers. All right for this spot. 10 Min, 3 shows, Full Stage. Donnelly & Royali Man and woman, character songs. They have very fair voices and render their selections most acceptably. Their closing medley of Grand Opera songs is quite worthy. Very good for the three-a-day section. Can heartily recommend them to Boston. 16 Min. Open and close in One, 3 shows. La Veola French songs, dances and contortion. This girl has quite some personality and a beautiful wardrobe. It just barely misses being a very good act. Contortion work is the feature. 10 Min. in One, 3 shows. Dixon, Anger & Co. In their new act, "The Baron and His Friend Out West". Personally I did not care much for the act, but they managed to land pretty well in an easy spot on the bill. I would not consider them safe after 8.30 p.m. 17 Min. in One, 2 shows. Gardner & Stoddard Musical comedy sketch. Some very good character impersonations by Miss Stoddard. They got many laughs and considerable applause at the finish. 20 Min. Full Stage. THEY DO NOT CLOSE IN ONE. 3 shows. Belle Blanche This girl did not do as well here as reports indicate she did in other places, due principally to the fact that her characters are not very well-known to Providence people. She pleased, however, but was by no means a big hit. 13 Min. in One, 2 shows. Permane Brothers Acrobatic clowns, who do some funny work with a large rubber ball and a very funny imitation of a Nightingale's Courtship, securing many laughs. 13 Min. Full Stage, 2 shows. 6 American Dancers I may be prejudiced in favor of this act, but if it is not the best wooden shoe dancing act ever produced in vaudeville I am afraid I am no judge. The costumes are beautiful and the boys and girls make a very striking appearance. One thing is certain, they got the most spontaneous and unanimous applause of any act on the bill, all through the act and at the finish, too. 18 Min. in One, 2 shows. Gabriel & Co. Well-known. Some big laughing hit. 22 Min. Full Stage. 2 shows. Receptions after the Motion Pictures. Avery & Hart Well-known colored act, which did not seem to go as strong today as upon their previous visit. While I like the act personally very much, I consider it at least $100 over-paid. 21 Min. in One, 2 shows. Marzella's Birds A very beautiful act, showy paraphernalia, which held the audience successfully until the finish. 21 Min. Full Stage. 2 shows. Keith Motion Pictures. O. K.
