Report on Columbus Show week Jan. 4th, 1909. W. W. [Frosser?] Seymour & Dupree: Man and woman in a comedy, acrobatic, musical, and singing set. The man is made up as a chink and does some verye effective jumping. The woman introduces two songs both of which got by moderately well. There was scattered applause all through the set and at the finish they were given approval which would stamp the act as O.K. and very good for an opener. Library, in 2, 15 minutes. SAM STEARN: Hebrew monologist with a change to Italian. His act went very well and for an act of its kind the offering is satisfactory. Nothing great, but still far from bad. 15 minutes, street in 1. WARREN, LYONS & MYERS: Two women and a man in a very clever and clean singing act. One woman has an excellent soprano voice which she uses advantageously, the other woman a voice of lighter quality but very pretty and taking, and the man a pleasing singing and speaking voice. The act went big from beginning to end, and must be voted a substantial success. Center door fancy, in 3, 20 minutes. WINSTON'S SEALS: Well known animal act and thoroughly satisfactory in every way. All of the tricks introduced are exceptionally well executed and there was heavy applause all through the set. Special set, in 4, 19 minutes. WAYWARD, [PISTEL?] & CO.: One woman, three men in "The King of Blackwellis". This act opens in one, the scene represented being a street in Paris. It goes to center door fancy, in 6. Briefly, the idea is that a clever American endeavors to palm off on a French lady a colored man whom he introduces as The King of Blackwellis. From the slender thread a very laughable set is worked up, and all through the approval was unqualified. There is a melo-dramatic pause and a surprise comedy finish that brought roars of laughter. We term this act positively a hit. CEIGER & WALTERS: Man and woman in "The Streets of Italy". Ceiger is a trick fiddler and Walters assists him capably by introducing a song or two. The work of this team was O. K., and they were called back several times. Street in 1, 18 minutes. NIGHT ON A HOUSE BOAT: This well known act is one of the prettiest and best presented musical offering we have ever had in the house. The work of the various people seemed to catch on, and I believe the act will create a very favorable impression. There is a lot of snap and ginger about it and the illuminated finish proved particularly effective. Special set, in 5, 24 minutes. MOVING PICTURES: O. K.
