Report of Columbus Keith's week January 11, 1909. W. W. D. CARTELLE BROS.: Comedy skating act, two men. They open with a lot of comedy work which proved a scream. Finish up with some clever and well executed dancing on skates. For an act as an opener they went great. 11 minutes, kitchen, in 2. ANNIE & EFFIE CONLEY: Two girls who appear in what they term "Song-Stories". They make quite a nice appearance and were favorably received. Sang three songs with a change of character to each. Got along very nicely, and while not a big hit held the spot very well. 14 minutes, oleo, in 1. PRESTON KENDALL & CO.: In a one act version of "The Devil". To-day being inauguration day our house while large was mostly of a holiday make-up, and this sketch while it did not fare badly was not so well received as I believe it will be by the regular clientele of the theatre. Really no fault to be found with the work of either Mr. Kendall or his co-workers, and for a sketch of its serious nature the act got along very well. The finish was strong although I do not believe that it dawned on the majority of the people what it was all about until almost the curtain. 24 minutes, library, in 2. JAS. F. MACDONALD: A clean-cut fellow of pleasing appearance, who has a singing voice of good quality and which he used this afternoon to very good advantage. He does a little talking and got away with it nicely. For an act of its kind it was O. K. His finishing song, "Don't Take Me Home", proved a big hit. 15 minutes, oleo, in 1. HASSAN BEN ALI TROUPE: Well known acrobatic act which was a riot, all of the working going about as well as any one could wish for. Garden, in 5, 9 minutes. [RYNE?] & LEWIS: Two men who do a singing and talking act in one. There has been a change of one man in the act since it was here before, and from the way it went would say for the better. These boys are inclined to deal in remarks that will have to be chopped, but otherwise the act id thoroughly O. K. 23 minutes, street, in 1. BUSTER BROWN & CO.: Two women, four men. This act won a lot of laughs and seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all who saw it. The reception feature worked out very successfully and I think that the act will create a lot of favorable comment, especially among the women and children. [22?] minutes, landscape, in 5. MOTION PICTURES: O. K.
